Complete newb here, first 4Runner, working out the differences between a Runner and a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Since the spare underneath eliminates the under deck storage area, I'm looking for some sort of a box in which to store "stuff." Probably 43" long, somewhat sturdy, 12 - 15" wide and 12 - 15" high.

Anyone else solved this problem, how'd ya' do it? Thanks in advance for suggestions, etc.!!

I had a buddy build this for me out of plywood.

I don’t recall exactly how wide the rear is but it’s a little over 40” and depth wise, not quite 36”.

I made a drawer system similar to what @ozzyy29 has.

IMG_4604.jpg IMG_4612.jpg IMG_4620.jpg IMG_4581.jpg I made mine with extruded aluminum frame. I'm by no means a craftsman. I can't cut a straight piece of wood to save my life... it was a fun project though. Eventually I might try and ad a couple drawers.

Thanks for the responses and especially the pics. I'm going to draw up some plans for something like Ozzy has. I'll let you know what comes next!

I made mine out of 3/4 pine and attached it with J hooks and turnbuckles to the 4 tie downs in the cargo area. Super solid. Mine is a cubby like @Agent3056 has. Making your own will be so satisfying! 5266E41D-4E5C-4544-B70B-553D85C8AA9B.jpg2BA1EB7A-BB98-48F2-8331-CE25652EA597.jpg

Too many to list. See build thread.
I’m really happy with my Dobinson’s drawers. They aren’t cheap, but I don’t think you could build something of equal quality for the same price.
