I can’t decide so I thought I’d post and ask for thoughts. I’ve done so much reading I can’t decide. Some people say no issues some say they are dangerous.

People who say they’re dangerous have no real world experience with them.

quality spacers are ran by thousands of us.

Just installed them on my 2020 TRD ORP this past weekend. Only have about 100 miles on them; taking it in to do the body mount chop next week since I run KO2 285/70/17. Got a bit of rub on the passenger side especially when in reverse full lock to the right. Nothing a quick shave can't help out with! ;)

If you follow the manufacturers installation guidelines and re-check torque whenever you have the tires off you'll be fine.

I have them on this vehicle and have run them on previous vehicles. Never had an issue.

Once I put on 285's it made it rub badly so I removed them and all is good.

Thanks I think I’ll go for it. I have 285’s on a 3”Toytec Boss Lift. I keep saying I’m done but I keep finding pics and oh that’s cool. SSO rack in my future too I think.

you're going to need to do a body mount chop most likely. Keep that in mind

I already did the fender well mod with a slight bumper trim. I’m hoping that’s enough.

Push your caster up to try and avoid the BMC. Do you know where it's set now?

It’s set at the default for a 3” lift. D I think is the setting that SPC recommends

I think SPC recommends 4 degrees, if I'm not mistaken.

Higher caster numbers are your best chance at not rubbing on the mudflap or body mount.

If after putting the spacers on you find that you rub back there, I would go back to the alignment shop and re-check/adjust the caster. Going up to 4.5 degrees or so would be easier than a BMC, IMO.

I have run spacers on 4 vehicles including my Runner and have never had an issue with the spacers themselves. Like a poster above mentioned check the torque settings when the wheels are off. Learn to do your own tire rotations so you are in control of your torque specs and you know the spacers are getting attention.

When I first installed new it took a few weeks to get the spacers seated and torqued to spec. I should have put the truck in 4wd to keep the fronts from spinning. Forgot I could do that. Also get the All Pro extended lugs for the front (cheap and easy) or get extended studs (more $ and a pita).

I do think the wheel bearings will wear faster with spacers. My FJ needed one replaced with roughly 75k miles. There were other factors I think contributed to this. YMMV

That's one I hadn't thought of, the caster that is. I've postponed the BMC for now and may take it back to ORW to have it adjusted and realigned.

Well I finally got around to installing then and I’m getting some rubbing on the inside back of the mud flap.

A wheel spacer is simply a spacer between the hub and the actual wheel face. It decreases the amount of engagement your studs have with the lugs.

Spidertrax are actually hub adapters. They have their own set of OEM length studs and mount to your existing studs.

If they are properly installed and proper precautions are taken as not to over tighten, they will be just fine.

Of course, some 18-year-old ass clown with an impact wrench on his first day on the job can do some serious damage to them.

A heat gun and some pressure might allow you to get rid of the rubbing on the mudflap.

Also, an alignment where you push the caster further forward could help. Of course you could start rubbing on the fender liner/flare up front if you don't already have the fender liner mod.

I already have my UCA’s pushed forward and have the fender liner mod done. I went ahead a removed the front min flaps hopefully that fixes my issue. The only other option is dropping down to 275’s which is a no go since I just put new 285’s on.

The recommended D setting which is plus 2.
I’ve been driving around all day and removing the mud flaps seems to have fixed the rubbing.

+2 is pretty low. I want to say the lowest caster spec is +2.3.

You should be around +4 or higher with aftermarket UCA's and the fender liner mod.

But if you're happy removing the mudflaps, no worries.

I'm just saying you could probably push your caster higher and keep the mudflaps if you want.

This is why I went with the D setting. F35FCBCF-9B47-4D7D-A523-432C9B1119BB.jpg49D9BFFD-5F11-4FA2-9E78-C73B6AC4E6BF.jpg

Question to those of you with wheel spacers specifically on the 4Runner. Have you noticed a large increase in turning radius? I know my 3" knuckle lift on my 2wd GMC Sierra is about 1.5 inch each side wider in front and I have 1.5 inch spacers in the rear. The turning radius is at least 5 feet more.

Would it be possible to do a before and after measurement?

That's interesting because the point of getting UCA's is to return your caster to OE spec......however, +2.0 is below OE spec.

Doesn't matter. If you're happy with the way it is, leave it.

However, if you're interested in tighter steering, less wandering down the highway, and your tires being pushed forward so you can still use those mudflaps, then try setting A. If not, no worries.

Well it looks like I’m still getting some rubbing so I’m going to try the A setting and trim some more or the front fender if needed. This kinda sucks because I really like the look of the spacers but not the hassle with all the rubbing

Well I’m not sure what to do now. I took it to my alignment shop and had them adjust using the A setting and now my caber is all screwed up. I don’t know how people are running these with out issues, maybe where I live no one knows what they are doing.

The drivers side front tilts out a touch more at the top.
