So, when I am in there bypassing the DCM, I should pull this battery out also? Is the battery hard to find?

Why on earth would Toyota stick a battery like that in there unless they want to track you 24/7?

This is turning into something i wasn’t expecting.

Any of you guys ever tried to bypass the DCM on the older vehicles? I see the TSB for the 2020-2022 but what about the older 5th gens?
    Our 2012 started the
"Safety Connect Failure Detected, please see your dealer" message for the first time about 6 months ago. Back then it would only do it randomly. Then it progressed to doing it more often. Then it progressed to doing it all the time every time you start up now. I have been reading about it, some people claim the dealer cant un-do it. I tried pressing the button to get to an agent to tell them to stop any services and remove me from it but all i get is the automated message and i cant go any further. Further reading claims the older 5th gens 2010-2018 ran on 3G network and Toyota pulled the plug on them in 2022 so thats why i cant get to an operator now. So if the dealer cant cut it off, and i cant connect to an operator to get them to stop the annoying (and very loud) message every start up, do you guys think this DCM bypass is the solution for me with a 2012 ?

Once you bypass the DCM with the AutoHarnessHouse bypass harness the battery inside will die within a couple of weeks. There’s panel on the DCM that you can remove to get to the battery, but if you’re going to go to the effort to do that why not just remove the DCM entirely and be done with it?

Well there’s the thought that if you were stranded because of an issue with the vehicle battery, the backup battery could still be used to summon help via the SOS button.
