Going a different route? Just curious, other than being somewhat large those are top notch.

Yeah I really never bought into that "closed system winching" thing. I prefer the hook; it's just easier and takes one whole link out of a basic winching operation. Plus for my wife's 4R which the winch is never really used, this is an easy way to thin out kit. I had to keep a couple D rings in there, plus school her on how to use the system... it's just easier for her to snap the hook onto something (or snap it around a tree and back to the cable, God forbid, the horror!!!) if she really needs to use it by herself.

Harbor Freight (I know, I know) has an oversized rectangular hook and I bought one to try out and actually really like it, so I'm replacing both winch hooks.

But yes, the Factor 55 is some nice kit and good looking bling IMO. Really didn't think of it as large though.

Na, i'm with you on Harbor Freight stuff that doesn't have moving parts. I got a lot of stuff from them, I just avoid two scenarios:

    1. High RPM death (saws, etc).
    2. Lifesaving devices that require a battery as a component.
