    Hi everyone,
I am selling an almost new OEM roof rack off of my 2019 TRd Off Road. 4Runner had about 2,000 miles when removed (never had anything loaded on it). Black caps, rails and cross bars. Caps were removed carefully, tabs still intact. Roof rack includes all hardware.

Asking $250. Shipping at buyer’s expense
    Thanks,
    Josh

Dude those are the cover caps. First of all, who can see it? Second, that’s an easy ass fix with plasti dip.

also, you got this rack for well over $100 cheaper than they typically go for. I sold mine for $325 and that was a bargain

Paid 300, made me pay shipping and then shipped it through his employer. Maybe I'll ask them if they insured the package. If I wanted plasti dip I would have bought a silver one for 100

@ForRun- the car had ~2,000 miles on it when it was taken off. I washed the car several times. Scratches happen man, I (and probably several other members here) feel like you’re being unreasonable with this.
You paid $250 for the entire rack and $50 for shipping (which I paid $58 for since we are nitpicking)
Please provide proof that you are proceeding with a claim through UPS, as they are the party responsible for damaging the rack you purchased.

I clearly stated in the original post that the rack was used (“almost new” were the exact words). You were expecting factory new. You did not receive that.
In my defense, you could have asked for more detailed photos of every piece. I would have, gladly, sent those to you within a couple hours of your request. You didn’t ask for any additional photos.
You, as the buyer of used equipment, are responsible for doing the due diligence of knowing exactly what you buy. You are the one making the decision if the item you’re buying meets your standards. I really don’t think I should do anything about the caps.
You sent me a picture outside of this thread showing what “looks like it was dragged across the concrete”. I did not drag this across the concrete (why would I?). Does the mount serve it’s intended function, even with the scratch? Absolutely. Can you see it when it is on the truck? Absolutely not.
I feel like you’re trying to pick apart every minor flaw so you can build a case against me with PayPal. This is all very suspicious because the first PM you sent me was asking me what the lowest I would take was. I said $250 + shipping. This was too much for you apparently. I lowered my price publicly then you PM’d again and we continued with the sale at $300 shipped (I covered the PayPal fees as well).
I am really sorry the crossmember broke during shipping. I believed I packaged it well enough. UPS strikes again, I guess. Since the other one is in usable condition we are in a situation where you need one crossmember and most places sell in quantities of 2. How about this, I’ll refund you: half of what the price is for 2 from BAM Wholesale (~$90 split 2 ways is $45). In return, you refund me the extra shipping I paid ($8) and we split the PayPal fees (~$9). So when it’s all said and done, I’ll refund you $32 and we can let this dispute die in the History of Pointless Internet Arguments. Please let me know if this works, I really don’t want to spend ages arguing over this because, let’s be real, we all adults here and have better things to do with our time.

    Edit- link didn’t work

Sorry, link doesn’t work. Go to BAM Wholesale’s website and navigate through to find the parts I’m referencing.

The caps are scratched beyond normal use and are pictured upside down in the sale photo. You obtained the shipping cost before we agreed. I'll settle for the replacement part and eat the cost of finding new caps, maybe Toyota sells just the broken piece and won't need crossbars?

I would gladly refund you the price of the broken piece. I looked and couldn’t find it with a 5 minute search.
Please inform PayPal that we agreed on $45 refund and remove the full $300 refund from your request.
I’ll refund you via PayPal and we can agree to never do business in the future.

Sorry the part is 89 unless the bracket is sold separately? Like I said I'll settle for the part and that's $89. You say I should have done due diligence, I think you should have made full disclosure as it's the right thing to do.
If not I'll just let PayPal decide.
Some here think I'm a douchebag whatever. how do you think they would feel if they received this item in this condition. better yet how would you feel if you spent this money and received an item in this condition you wouldn't be happy now would you?

    Listen Dave,
You keep mentioning PayPal in a threatening way. I was not being deceptive with my post at all. You even mentioned it yourself, the rack was pictured stored outside in my back yard with the caps on the ground. I don't want to go through with the whole PayPal dispute, it is a huge waste of time for both of us.
I will refund you $89, but only because I just don't want to deal with you anymore.
Please accept the PayPal offer I just sent you

This is not good. I have sold a lot of stuff. Just recently my new running boards shipped them wrapped them really good. I took the insurance because of this. Now it is a different story if the seller is not honest with any scratches or paint chips. It’s always best to be up front when selling mods. Good luck with this situation.

    From Dave for transparency's sake:
7:36am- "Awesome, payment being held? What's the holdup?”

7:48am- “I accepted your gracious offer so may I ask when your going to release payment? It's being held.
Like you said, who's got time for this. I don't. I expected to pick up the package and just bolt up the rack last night and done, now I'm dealing payment held. Let it go please and let's move on.”

Dave, I did not put a hold on the money transfer. PayPal did. Literally from the PayPal email regarding this dispute-
“We are reviewing the facts of the case and will carefully consider all the material before making a decision. We will let you know if we need additional information from you, and will contact you when a decision has been reached.
Please understand that until our review is complete, we will hold any funds associated with this transaction.

You really need to calm down, man. This is out of both of our hands at this point. PayPal will settle things as they see fit. I’m really sorry it has gotten to this point.
