Could be. Maybe early on those bulbs were so dim that people complained, so they did go with LEDs in those two spots. I’ve got a ‘23 OR that I’ll check out later today also.

Anecdotal but I kept an eye on all incoming TRD Pros within a 100 mile radius of me here in the northeast during my 1.5 year wait for mine (in case it fell through and I needed to hunt down another MSRP one).

Solar Octane was, by FAR, the lowest volume color I saw. The majority of them were black or gray. When an orange would pop up, it wouldn’t last long (unless from a huge markup dealer), but there honestly weren’t many.

My dealer also usually gets several special color Pros per year and it was the first time they only got 1 (mine), through a dealer swap nonetheless. For comparison, they sold several lime rush ones and a couple electric lime Tacoma's the year before.

If anyone cares about that stuff, I’d say it’s a good bet that the supply shortages made this color lower production and “rarer” than planned. But the fact that solar octane will be available on the ‘24 non-Pro models will dilute the rarity a bit.

I think what will help on the SO color keeping it more rare don’t know how many people are going to pay extra charge for the paint color. People have been complaining so much about the cost of a new 4runner. Time will tell. Lol.

I did the same for my neck of the woods in Missouri. To my knowledge, mine was the first SO 4R that landed at any dealership in my area and they only obtained mine because I had a deposit on one for so long, and all that they kept getting allocated were white and black ones, that they moved my order up to the regional manager level, who finally obtained a SO allocation for my dealer.

I do know of at least one other SO 4R that came to a large volume dealership in St. Louis and then a second one at the dealer that I bought mine from.

That maybe true for the 23 Pro's but I see they are offering SO as a color for the 2024 Pro's I was hoping it was going to be a one year and done :annoyed:

I figured they would offer the SO for 24’s. Toyota has done that with all the Pro colors. But for the non Pro 4runner is someone going to pay extra for that paint job? Depending if they charge the $425 again or more. I think it was $425 without looking at my window sticker.

Hey all! Picked up my 4Runner a couple of months back. 2nd owner, only 85 miles when I picked it up. Story was that a husband bought it for his wife, however for living in Chicago she wasn't comfortable driving it in the city. They held onto it for a few months and ended up trading it in for something smaller. Nevertheless, I happy to pick it up with an extended warranty. The next month I took it on a 5700 mile road trip with my wife and dog. Made my way from Chicago to northern Montana and made my way down to southern Utah and then back to Chicago.
I have only had black or white cars since I've been driving. And I have to say, seeing the SO during a sunset in Zion or Moab....Man I really fell in love with the color.
Looking forward to sharing and looking forward to watch you all build out your rigs!

Lunar Rock came out on the 2021 Pro and they carried it forward in 2022 and 2023 for the non-Pro's. I don't see Lunar Rock on the 2024's.

The difference is Toyota did not charge for the LunaRock paint job. But they are charging for the SO. That’s an extra price where customers have to decide how bad they want it. It’s not much but it’s still extra to pay for.

It’s the original Crestone and I love it!! Extremely solid. I was out on the highway this AM and I think it is quieter as well. I’m not sure what the TRD Pro roof rack was really meant for. I will probably never use this rack to it’s full potential but it’s definitely going to make hauling a kayak a breeze and knowing all the other possibilities will be icing on the cake.

I too dislike the Pro rack and would like to get rid of it and replace it with the Crestone Sherpa, but I don't really have a need for a rack. I should just remove the Pro rack and go naked!

Go for it! Just be sure and to heat the bolts up to loosen the red locktite. I think they sell the kit to cover the mounting points, if not the rubber blocks with metal sleeve by Sherpa work great for a water tight seal.

Got the ladder this AM and install went fairly smooth. You definitely want an extra pair of hands when making the the final attachment at the base. FYI…. I have plenty of clearance for my Hollywood Trailer Hitch mount E-bike Rack…. Let the adventures begin!!IMG_1576.jpg

I am probably the only person who actually likes the OEM rack lol it reminds me of the FJ one. If the FJ-style wheels I’m gonna be putting on aren’t an obvious indicator, I love capturing as much from that car on mine as possible.

But the lack of a horizontal bar in the front for mounting lights is pretty annoying. I also don’t use racks much so it’s decreased utility over a real full rack doesn’t impact me.

I probably devalued my rig but I honestly don’t ever plan on selling. Having the Platinum warranty - I can honestly say I’m done w/ mods now. I haven’t done anything to alter suspension, electrical or anything Toyota can use as a reason for denial of a warranty claim- so I’m looking forward to smooth sailing. (PS: I did order some beefier rear hatch struts this AM (Lift Support Depot: PM4005-W) … we had a chilly AM and the hatch kept wanting to lower on my head as I was loading groceries at Walmart.

Looks awesome! Always wondered if those racks hang over the sunroof and interfere with light getting in? Or is that portion of the rack open for the sunroof?

I currently have two of my crossbars going across the sunroof (glass) area. The sun roof itself is fully functional still (Back, then the added two inches you get when hitting the button after it stops, and it also still goes up in the rear… so it’s fully functional. ). I may move one of the crossbars to the rear later just depends on the final configuration for what works best. They could have been arranged to have one at the leading and one at the trailing edge of the glass but I think the guy that did the install thought protecting the glass was important.

Admittedly, I have not done a ton of research on the topic, but is the Sherpa roof rack considered to be superior to the C4, Westcott, etc.?

There are different styles Wescot Design and Sherpa are style that I liked and both are very thick aluminum construction. The difference is how they mount to the vehicle. Wescot uses RTV and Sherpa uses a rubber block with a bolt that compresses a rubber washer for a water tight seal. (As pointed out earlier you can now mount the Wescot Design using the Sherpa rubber block system….). So for this style…. I believe they are both almost identical. That being said there are racks / and matching ladders like Gobi which look tubular to me. I know they are very sturdy etc.. but just wasn’t the look I wanted. I also like GreenLaneOffRoad stuff as well. The premium racks have a 750lb static load limit and ladders have 250lb limit…. That’s one way to tell the premium vs lesser quality racks. I’m sure there are other premium racks these are the one’s that I remember looking at closely.

Hey RusPro17 ~ What type of ceramic coating did you get? I’m desperate to add one to mine , in addition to the PPF. The dealership wants to use Xzilion. I’m not sure about it bc of the mixed reviews online. Please share your experience and brand! Thanks! KJ

Your 4Rnr looks amazing! I love the added tint work too. Makes me want to update mine the same. How much does the front windshield strip help? I keep looking for the one that 4RunnerLifestyle had for sale but can’t find it any longer. Definitely need something up there but want to make sure the electronics are not interrupted.
