So was driving in a rainstorm yesterday.
The dreaded drivetrain groaning/clicking noise came back again - louder than before

'Slip' off - Orange warning light came on for like 10 mins .. until i was able to safely park

The orange light went off after parking

    Thoughts and advise please

Sounds like a Traction Control/ ABS/ Yaw Stability issue. Being a '22 model, Is it still under warranty? Then I'd take it in...

Unfortunately, i have taken it in twice... They couldn't reproduce.

This is the first time warning lights came on for about 10 mins.

Might have to try my luck at another dealership.. I guess

Take a video with your phone next time it happens. Might help to show the technician. What was the scenario the other time this happened?

Occasionally was getting the groaning/clicking noise - which the Service Department couldn't reproduce - after keeping the vehicle for 2 days.

So on this rainy day... the groaning/clicking noise came back aggressively and louder.

The 'Slip' off - Orange warning light came on. When i pulled over to a stop. Cut engine off.

The warning light didnt come back on.

I will take your advice to record next time this happens.

The fact that you mention the light and the groaning noise makes me think you are hearing the ABS system kick on. You can test this theory if you want to. Go somewhere steep, put the truck in 4low and engage the downhill assist. Once you start moving forward down the hill the ABS should kick on since the downhill assist uses the ABS system to slow the vehicle down. Report back if that is the same grinding/clicking noise you are hearing.

Rainstorm, slip light, ABS engaging. Sure sounds like you were starting to hydroplane and vehicle's safety systems did exactly what they are designed to do. What doesn't make sense is the light staying on for 10 minutes. It should go off as soon as the system is no longer active.

This, that clicking, is your 4 runner, keeping wheel slip down. You want that. Guess you havent taken it off road yet, or used any of your track control modes, because when you do, and your scared by that clicking, your going to shit your pants.

Never been off road. It a TRD Sport. Primarily for Urban driving.
In fact, the first part-time 4WD concept.

    Always been fulltime 4WD/AWD.

I occasionally get the slip warning light even on dry pavement when backing out of the driveway and transitioning from reverse gear to drive. I think the system is very sensitive to wheel spin and/or different wheel speeds.
