I realize this is the fifth gen section, but I’d like to get fifth gen owners thoughts on this-

For you previous fifth gen owners who have now transitioned in to a sixth gen- How do you rate the ride quality of your new sixth gen compared to your old fifth gen?

The reason I’m asking is this - Last week, I FINALLY got to ride in a new sixth gen, as a passenger sitting in the back seat. How exciting! Haha! It happened to be a Limited model. There were four of us adults in the vehicle, no cargo payload.

I gotta say, I was not impressed with the ride quality of that Limited. It seemed rather harsh or jarring to me, over bumps / or bad pavement. I didn’t say anything to the owner.

I wish now that I would have paid more attention to the brand of tires he had on it- at casual glance they looked normal, like the factory tires to me. I wonder if they were over-inflated???? He didn’t just get the thing- he said he bought it close to when they first came out, so….

Again, this was a Limited model. Has anyone else noticed a difference in the ride quality between stock fifth gens to sixth gens? I suppose you’d have to compare apples to apples- Limiteds to Limiteds, SR5s to SR5s, etc.

But I gotta say- I was surprised, and disappointed, in the ride quality of that Limited sixth gen compared to my 2022 SR5 Premium 4WD. (I did have the factory front shocks replaced on mine last year. I went to those Bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks.)

A lot of people have been reporting their tires were aired at 50-55psi
There was a long thread on it, the harsh rides, many owners started speculating why they rode so poorly and most every person that checked their tires were 50-55psi. Many different theories came about, high pressure so tires wont flat spot on the 3 month trip from parking lot at Tahara to ferry across the pond to parking lot at long beach. Its in the PDI (pre delivery inspection) for the dealers to check and correct tire pressure but its clearly not getting done.
The 5th gen Limited come with the narrow wheels and 245 metric tires, i call them pizza cutters because they are so thin and narrow, they too ride pretty bad when you get above 40psi in the stock tires. All of mine ride MUCH better with aftermarket tires at the correct pressure.

Thanks Airdam. Yes, I did previously read the posts about tires being over-inflated by the factory. That’s why I mentioned above that this particular guy had already had his sixth gen Limited for quite a while already. I’d hate to think that there could still be that many vehicles out there running around with tires that were intentionally over-inflated by the factory.

I check the tires pressures on both our vehicles every two weeks, in addition to doing a quick daily “walk-around” visual inspection of the tires before driving, but that’s just me- retired now, have the time to do that. lol….

You might be surprised, people these days dont check anything, which is why everything has to have a warning label to release liability for the idiocies today. Kids eating tide pods, swallowing a whole spoon of cinnamon, glued to their cell phones all day even while driving. The vast majority of young adults now cant even tell you how to check the oil, much less change it and certainly take tires and air pressure for granted.

You might try this thread in the 6th gen section. I'd bet the percentage of 6th gen owners coming from a 5th gen might be higher in that group.
