Hello, just picked up a 2026 4Runner 4x4 SR5 in Heritage Blue for our family.

Looking for some side steps/running boards from reputable companies. I don't like the Toyota options. Wanting ones that are straight (not curved), flat (not tubes), and fit flush to the body (no gaps). Purpose is so it's easier for my wife to step in and out. I have Tyger Star Armor on my Tacoma, but it doesn't look like they sell any for the 4Runner.

Would you all mind providing some recommendations please? Thank you.

Have you considered powered running boards? Sure, they're pricey, but you'll get what you want. A wide step and a low step in height for the wife & family, and when they aren't in use they sit flush to the body.

I also think retractable running boards will be your best option to assist entry and exit, and be flush to body.
There are many posts on this subject-try searching both runner forums for manufacturers.

X4, I would recommend them as well.
Those were the number one item on the punch list of accessories, this will be the wife's vehicle and it is what she wanted.
    BTW welcome aboard from MA.

Thanks all. I'll consider retractable. I'm trying to find the part number for the below we saw at a Toyota dealership:

For OEM: 51083-35210 and 51084-35200 (Right assembly and Left assembly).

They look waaaay~ too expensive for both sides. :annoyed:
Don't let your wife find out about the cost if you're going with this purchase...LOL.
I would rather just buy 4R TRD OR or TRD ORP and just get it over with instead.

For TRD: look at this one too.

Otherwise, How about this instead if you would like to go for low cost?

    Good luck! :spending:

    TungstenSR5,

How is the traction on that running board? Who is the manufacturer, and where was it made? Never ever guessed that you can buy a set from Walmart....but now I know.

Please let us know how your new running boards work out over time. I think you made a good decision.

BTW, I saw this about ABS Plastics (used for your running boards).

    "Limitations:

While tough, ABS is sensitive to UV light, which can cause it to yellow and become brittle over time if left outdoors without protective coatings. It also has a relatively low melting point (around 200–240°C), meaning it should not be used for high-heat applications."

Just be sure to apply some protective coatings after each wash....and you'll be O.K.
