I found a 2007 4Runner with a 4.7 v8 and 186,000 miles, pretty good condition nothing seems to be wrong. Would you recommend buying?

It could be impeccably maintained, it could have been owned by a smoker who thought he’d top off with Canola oil and drive down the interstate in 4Lo to pick up another bumper for his 2008 Altima.

Insufficient information. “nothing seems to be wrong” doesn’t help as we don’t know how observant you are.

Rust? Maintenance history? Mechanic inspection? Title?

Do you even want a 4Runner? It can be a great vehicle but if you’re strapped for cash and don’t plan to ever hit the dirt it might not be worth it.

We only know as much as you tell us. So far it sounds like a great vehicle to me!

YOU DIDN’T EVEN INCLUDE THE MOST IMPORTANT PART. THE PRICE!

You have a lot of homework to do, start with these points and come back with something we can actually dispense helpful opinions on.

Hello, you need to find out, with documentation, if and when the timing belt was replaced on the V-8 engine. They recommend that timing belt be replaced every X amount of miles. (I now forget the recommended intervals, someone here will know, or look this up!)

Out of sight out of mind will not cut it for that timing belt. If it breaks due to excessive age or mileage you and your engine are sca-rewed. $$$$$$

If the timing belt has never been replaced, or is over due to be replaced again, you are playing Russian Roulette with the engine valve train destroying itself.

If the pre-purchase inspection tech says it's in pretty good condition and nothing seems wrong then buy at the right price. Congratz.

Well played, @icebear, though you forgot the two Great Danes slobbering all over the back seats.

@Bchappelle, don't mind the razzing, everyone here will gladly help you but they're right, we need just a little bit more to go on.
