I’m in the Baton Rouge area and trying to find a shop that specifically works on Toyotas to do my bmc for 34s anyone know anywhere?

    Hello Lilbill,
You might contact Southern Style Offroad (Kevin Berthelot) and see if he can accommodate or recommend someone.

Plus 1 for SSO, have their slimline front bumper based on a recommendation and it’s great.

Phil at Searcher's Off Road did the BMC on my 2018 4R. The BMC looks very professionly done.
Southern Style Off Road did a bunch of work back in 2019 inluding front bumper & lighting also a Icon stage 7 suspension. Very happy with the work but SSO ran into some business dificulties in the last few years and was sold. Not sure, but I don't think Kevin is still associated with the business and I think they may still be in a reorganization phase. There are a number of threads on the various 4R forums about the recent issues with SSO and order fullfilments.

I thought of searchers but wasn’t aware that they did work on T4R’s.
Yes there was a reorganization with SSO, Kevin is still associated with them. I’ve been there several times in the recent past.

For what it’s worth, I purchased my SSO Slimline post-reorg based on the recommendation of the shop I used (late 2024). She said the company is now actually better off with new ownership but still has the founder as the main guy. To each their own.

That's good to know about Kevin. I always liked him and they did great work on my 4R. The forum threads seemed to blame him for all the problems but I guess that's to be expected.
Searcher's specializes in Jeeps no doubt and let's face it Louisiana is Jeep country. Searcher's business is booming because Jeep's will always break down. Lol

Kevin built a set of 1 off sliders for me when he was building his hybrid bumpers. He didn’t build sliders to sell until a lot later.
When he caught up some he asked me to come by and discuss what I wanted. He did a great job and was working from his home shop before he moved his business into Baton Rouge. He’s good people. I think he had issues with workers leaving him to do their own thing, all the time while the company was still bringing in orders.
Good to know about Seacher’s doing good work on T4R’s

@Lava Lamp how much did they charge you to do it?

    I have no idea.
This was back in late 2018 when they were installing my initial Toytec Suspension and making sure 285/70/17 Nitto's along with Spidertrax spacers wouldnt rub at full lock.
It wasn't much. I left all the detailed itemized receipts with Searcher's so i have no record in my files. The price was just part of the overall install charge. I actually need to call Phil and find out if they installed the ECGS clamshell bushing to replace my front diff needle bearing. I can ask him about the current cost of a 4R body chop and then let you know.
