Installed the Sherpa Crestone rack today. Install was pretty straightforward. I havent been pleased with the Wescott ladder. It hits the back of the roof rack. It also hit the back of the OE rack. They should probably tell you this before buying. Also, the attachment to the to of the rear door is garbage. It is 3M tape and then 2 small all threads and the on on the left is a bear to get in. My ladder mount on the top has never sat flush. Just info for anyone shopping.

^So which showverlander accessory will you be removing, the ladder or the rack? :p

    No that's Tiktok and VSCO.

Can't be a showverlander without a posse of followers on Insta.

Thanks for the info. I haven't decided if I am going to get a ladder yet but I had decided on the Wescott ladder. I guess if I decide to get one it will have to be something else maybe the ladder from C4 Fabrication. As far as mounting goes I think most ladders mount the way the Wescott one does.

Are you sure you installed it correctly? I would think most ladders would have similar installs and that Crestone would be compatible with it. Have you resolved your issue since?

Yes they are both installed correctly. I applied a thin pad with an adhesive on the portion of the ladder that was hitting the rack. But eventually it fell off. I just open it slowly now and let it rest on the rack.

Awfully presumptuous for a guy with a bull bar installed on a taco raked on a rock in the middle of a road on “35’s”.

^@coachhomer must be insinuating that 35"s are the new 33"s, which is true. However, my set of 35"s have gotten me past obstacles that Jeeps need 37"s to overcome (due to their lower belly clearance), so I'll probably stay with this size until they wear out.

I think the issue here is that you installed a roof rack from a different vendor from your ladder. The last bracket on the roof rack is too close to the ladder and that's why they are touching every time you open the hatch. I have both products from Westcott and they have worked extremely well for me, no issues there.

Simplest fix is to get a 1/4" die rattail file and increase the last crossbar mounting slots forward about 1/2". Then you can slide the crossbar forward for clearance.

exactly this! I have a gobi ladder with a gobi rack and no fitment issues.

Now, having products from 2 different companies are not going to guarantee proper fitments without modifications

Unless it doesnt work with their rack, I dont see a problem here.

if I recall correctly though, Gobi sells 2 separate ladders (one that fits the pro rack while the other one doesnt). I dont know if it would fit the Sherpa rack as well but its worth a try.
If you're going to mix and match, your best best is trial and error (or hope that someone else tried before you)

Why do people assume a 4R is a "showoverlander". What gives you the clue on the 4R to say that? Would you say that about mine based on a picture? The wife and i overland in Utah, Colorado and Arizona. We bring in water and supplies, if you saw me on the road would you say, oh thats a showverlander? We are nearing almost 100k miles on a 22 4R. Lets be a little nicer to each other. Plus who cares what a person wants to do with their 4R.

Drill a couple new holes to move the last cross bar about an inch forward. Job done.

I have a crestone and though it may sound like your idea would make logical sense, the shark fin antenna is right there. Covering that up impacts Sirius/XM. Ask me how i know. :) The only "quick fix" would be to relocate that last bar.
