    2008 SR5 White
    Hi Everyone,

Just picked up a 2008 SR5 a few months ago. Now that I've put a few thousand miles in it, I've decided the headroom is a bit lacking (like many have already discovered). I can get into an okay position, but I would love to be able to sit more upright.
For the record, I am 6'2", 185 lbs, 32" inseam. My SR5 has a sunroof too.

    So let's dive in!

    PROBLEM: headroom, posture

    SOLUTIONS: drop seat

HOW: lower rear of seat, fab new brackets to drop seat, swap in aftermarket seats, etc.

    DETAILS:

I've been searching the forum about 4th gen seat height and all of the threads I have found tend to end the same way.

"but I'm taller than OP and I don't have a problem"
    "just buy a 4runner without a sunroof"
"you must sit way too upright"

Of course, none of that is particularly helpful.
However, I have found references to a thread by a user on here (can't remember his user name) who is 6'8" and made some modifications to the rear brackets. That thread was helpful once I found the pictures.

My goal with this thread is to have a few questions answered about how to solve my problem.

    1) STOCK SEATS: Who here has made modifications to their seat brackets in the name of head room? Looking for feedback on any kind of modification. Don't care if its dropping the butt end of the seat or dropping the whole seat or fabricating new brackets all together.

    2) AFTERMARKET SEATS: has anyone swapped in any aftermarket options into a 4th gen? Lots of threads on here for 3rd gen owners who swapped in all kinds of fun stuff, but very little for 4th gen owners. Looks like Corbeau makes bolt in slider brackets for 03-09 models so that would be an easy swap. Looking to see if swapping in another model will result in lower seat height, better posture, whatever. Possible issues? Airbags? Hit me with your experiences.

I'm handy, so I am not afraid of going the whole nine yards like fabricating full seat brackets, running wires for adding heated seats, etc.

    Bonus points for pictures!!!
