Hi all - new here. Just purchased a '22 SR5. I'd like to remove the roof rails for a cleaner look (i never load anything on the roof). Are there any OEM parts or aftermarket parts that will cover the holes left after removal? Thanks!

I’d imagine you’d just be able to replace the weatherstripping.

I used adhesive Velcro brand hook and loop tape. Velcro or 3M brand is a better choice rather than dollar store stuff.

I thought about doing the rail delete when I first bought it, but I actually use them to hold on to when I wash the top.

Hmmm, good point. I'm vertically challenged. Maybe I'll mount one of those wittle wadders I see people making fun of. Just a joke people...if you have a little ladder mounted on your truck, no offense.

I love the look of the slick top, but if I removed the roof rails then I’d be sorely tempted to swap the bulge hood for a flat one, and that would be a whole other kettle of fish.

I did a slick top on my wifes TRD Sport and it looked killer.
She didnt like it as much as me so the roof rack went back on.

I prefer having the roof rack as a grab handle to access the roof as others have mentioned. Also, if you do go ahead with removal, others have suggested using butyl tape sealant instead of silicone, as it remains flexible.

Thanks. I guess I'm looking for where to apply the silicone or butyl tape. The delete kit comes with bolts and snap on covers. I don't think the original roof rail caps are completely water tight and I assumed the roof would be designed to drain any water that did get past the caps. I've had previous SUVs (CRV, etc) that were missing roof rail caps and never has any water get into the headliner. Figured there's a drain channel under the rails, similar to the drain channels around a moon roof. No?

No clue there. Maybe someone who has removed their roof rack can chime in.

There's a Toyota roof rack delete kit. I got from Ebay and it came with the bolts with rubber O-rings, brackets and caps for the hole. I found it. Here you go. Glad I save pics and part numbers.
