So my dog managed to break off the rear passenger door handle. I followed a youtube video and replaced the handle, making sure it actuated the latch inside. Everything looks right, but it does not open. I took off the drivers side to make sure everything looked the same and it does. When I put it in park I hear three loud clicks from the affected door. What did I do wrong?

I know you said you made sure all the cables/latches were actuated and installed correctly and that it looks the same as the other door, but there’s gotta be something wrong with the install.

did the door lock/unlock regularly before replacing the handle? The three loud clicks makes me wonder if somethings is wrong with the actuator. OR the door handle is not connected to the actuator correctly

if you've checked and double checked everything my guess is a defective part. Is it OEM or aftermarket

Checked to make sure child safety lock didn't get flipped on? I don't think that would result in the clicking but may explain why it appeared to work and now it won't open from the inside. Does it open from the outside?

welcome. agree on the physical connection checks. it's a mechanical part, so it's either working or not.
