I just bought a 2020 4Runner TRD Pro and I absolutely love it. The previous owner had a ridiculous radar detector installed. I removed it successfully then started the car and everything was great. But I'm an idiot. So of course I stop the car, put the fuse back in and remove everything else. Then start the car back up, all is good, Oops I put the fuse back in, so I removed the fuse while the car was running...the car shuts down. I start the car back up with the fuse out and now I'm having all sorts of issues. I put the fuse back in but that does nothing. I think when I removed the fuse while the car was running and it shut down I tripped something. Please help. Heading to dealership tomorrow for $$ help.

INJ. Fuse box in the engine bay. On my 2018 this fuse was empty and the car would start and was located under the steering column. With the 2020 this fuse is in the engine bay now and has a 10 fuse. If this is missing the car will not start.

Fuel injectors? Yeah that'll screw things up lol. If it starts and runs now, I would just let it idle for a bit and go for a drive. You probably just confused the computer.

I was trying to search for a way to reset the electrical system some how. CTRL+ALT+DELETE for 4Runners :)

Get a fuse light tester and check the rest.
I had a similar problem when I installed a dash cam in my daughter’s brand new RAV4. Air bag malfunction light, please see dealer.
Worse problems after disconnecting battery for 1/2 hour. (High speed engine fan, no windows, wipers, hvac.)
    SCARED!
Ended up being another fuse that I missed checking.

Lucky me, otherwise I would have had a tough time convincing my wife to let me install a dash cam in her new 4Runner.

This is a case where the dealer is probably the best bet. Your 2018 had an INJ fuse in the engine bay. Most aftermarket headlights rely on that fuse for the DRLs. A lot of raptor lights also rely on that fuse. If blowing a fuse (would be essentially the same as removing a fuse) requires going to a dealer, then that’s poor design by Toyota. I would bet you put the fuse back in the wrong spot and are essentially missing a fuse still. Will be interested to see what the solution is though!

I had a similar issue with my 2021 when I started the 4runner without one of the engine management fuses in (forgot which one). The Check engine light came on and then a random 4WD light too and I was like Holy Shit.
I connected my ScanGauge II and was able to see and clear the codes that had been thrown. No issues since then

There is a procedure in the manual if the shift lever is stuck in park:

If the shift lever cannot be shifted from P
First, check whether the brake pedal is being depressed.
If the shift lever cannot be shifted with your foot on the brake pedal, there may be a problem with the shift lock system. Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer immediately.
The following steps may be used as an emergency measure to ensure that the shift lever can be shifted.
    Releasing the shift lock:
    1 Set the parking brake.
2 Vehicles without a smart key system: Turn the engine switch to the “LOCK” position.
Vehicles with a smart key system: Turn the engine switch is off.
    3 Depress the brake pedal.
4 Pry the cover up with a flathead screw- driver or equivalent tool.
To prevent damage to the cover, cover the tip of the screwdriver with a rag.
5 Press the shift lock override button. The shift lever can be shifted while the
    button is pressed.

    Hope that helps…
