I received a letter from Toyota about a month ago. It said there is a low pressure issue with the fuel system in the Gen 5, could cause vehicle to die/stop running whenever it felt like it! Comforting for sure..... I have a 2014, which was apparently included in this.

Anybody know anything about it? I did call them about a week after I got the letter and the guy said they were working on a fix, but nothing yet.

OK, but has anyone heard of a fix? Anyone had a problem? I have put over 2000 miles on my 4R since I got the notice and it runs great.

Yes, you take it in and they replace the faulty fuel pump with an updated one. The fuel pump MAY fail.

You had your fuel pump already replaced? Last I heard Toyota is still prepping for the recall.

Mine didn’t fall under it, however I read a couple articles saying Toyota has the fix already and it’s just an r&r with an updated fuel pump.

Thanks, last I heard (a month ago)Fuel Pumps weren’t available for the recall yet. The recall letter was a pre-notice.

The recall you are referring to on the fuel pump has since been canceled. Toyota sent out the original notice in March indicating the 4Runner may be affected. I received an additional letter in early May indicating that 4Runners did not have the issue and the first letter was sent out as an abundance of caution.
    Download the Toyota owners app.

enter in your VIN and it will tell you any recalls in effect for your specific vehicle.

I checked with local dealer in Reno, my 2014 was indeed on the "list". They ordered the part, we set an appointment for the following week and I took it in.
Unfortunately they broke a connector during the process, something concerning the EGR recirculation system and had to order a part because their tech broke the part. Two days later, they called me back and said they were taking the part off a brand new 4R in stock so they could install the replacement part back on theirs when it came in and I could have mine back. Process supposed to be a "one day" visit, took it in before 8am Monday, got my vehicle back Thursday morning. I was OK with it but wish someone would have thought of the swapped part idea on Monday. They DID offer me a 4R to drive while we waited for the part but we have a Taco and didn't need to go anywhere so I declined. Appreciated the offer but no thanks. If I drove a new one I'd prolly want a new one!
