Long story short, Limited that I use for work and travel. When I work, and drive a few states away, I will have about 300-400 pounds of extra weight in the rear.
It doesnt go down much, but I notice it drives a little different under windy conditions.
So, should I invest in new springs or a sway bar? The OEM sway bar is 21mm, probably hollow. Front is 31mm hollow..
Other than that, crappy Sailun tires and factory XRAES system..

stiffer springs for sure. Stiffer sway bars don't help with the sag and not much with the weight induced sway in windy conditions. In fact with stiffer springs you can run lighter or even no sway bars to avoid the rear being too sideways happy when unloaded.

Neither sway bar, front or rear, on a 4Runner is hollow.

Okay. Did not know that. So many threads, so many answers.
Hellwig and Addco make aftermarket. I imagine they are solid metal.

Most heavier aftermarket springs will also raise/lift the rear. Look up rear airlift air bags. Its a extremely simply install and helps with added weight.

Or your could delete ur xreas suspension system

The Limited has the 2nd largest swaybar of the different models I believe. I used Energy suspension bushings w/greasable brackets. I have been learning about adjustable swaybar links. You can change your handling characteristics extending links and preloading the swaybars slightly, but it will change the ride. I put my tire on the white or yellow line on the interstate and it drives itself. You might check your alignment. Positive caster controls high speed stability. It's supposed to be set at +3.5° +/- 0.5° . When Xreas goes out, replace with $500 worth of Bilsteins andnew springs. Everything will be better. Bare in mind, it is a rolling refrigerator on a windy day. There's a paving seam under the lines, out of the traveled way too. Easier on a windy day for hand/eye coordination. I converted the metric to standard and ordered universal bushings from Energy. It's cheaper than their Toyota specific part number. I'm jacked on 33s and I don't get pushed around to much. The AWD on the Limited is awesome and you have full-time front and rear limited slip and traction control at all speeds in H4H. Hold the Trac/skid button for 4 seconds to turn off the system. You definitely want to off in snow and ice so it acts like a regular 4wd. The rear brake pads wear out faster than the front about +2/1. I now think it's because of the limited slip system run by the Trac/ABS computer through calipers. Anyhow, that's what I am learning.

Thnx for all that. When I get ready to change the xraes, I will have a plan of attach. Definitley springs and shocks.
Sway bar greasables are nice. Simple system that keeps the noise down.
Shutting off traction control helps the AWD system work better? Even with ATRAC?

First the 4runner has 4WD and that is not the same as AWD.

If you turn off the traction control, normally you WANT the wheels to spin (maybe to clear the mud out of the tires, maybe to generate heat in the tires with spin, maybe you need the wheel spin to maneuver.
ATRAC is used for LOW speeds; for controlled climbing over loose or rutted terrain where a wheel might leave the ground. ATRAC is a mode / type of traction control.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQ4XdXy4XgE

ATRAC comes on/off - stopping the wheel that is spinning and sending the power to the wheel that is not.

For the sake of thoroughness for rear sway bars, I copied the info out of the knowledge sharing document
