1997. Rear hatch switch on occasion will try to roll down rear window. is the switch which controls the window up and down the round one the key is part of?or is it the switch underneath the controller with all the rods attached?

I know most of these words. I can't picture what you're trying to describe.

On my 2002 the rear window switch is a left right rocker switch on the top center of the dash. It won't work if you have the driver's side power window lockout switch activated. I imagine your rear window switch is elsewhere? But pretty sure you probably have a PW lockout on the driver's side door handle like I do. No idea what you mean by the "key"? "rods"?

On my 1997’s rear hatch I insert the truck key in the lock to either lock or unlock the hatch door, I can also push the rear door lock/unlock switch on the far left panel to do the same thing.

Inside the cab I have a rear window lock out switch which disables the rocker down/up window switch located above the parking brake which is handy to roll down the rear window while driving.

my question: when I insert the truck key into the rear door lock/unlock switch you can turn the key an extra way to roll down the window or turn the key hard counterclockwise to close the window and this function is intermittent. I removed all the panels on the rear door and the door lock has many electrical wires attached the the mechanism. I can not find the part number of this switch.

sorry for the Confusion, this is a basic truck… no electric windows or front and rear door locks. It a basic 1997, 2.7 engine with a manual 5 speed.

I believe you turn and hold that key to activate the window. One way is up, the other is down. Note that the rear wiper must be fully home first. A tiny bit off will defeat the window. Hope this helps.

Yes you are correct! But, mine is intermittent and I can not the part number for the white round switch attached to the lock mechanism.

go to partsouq.com. Put in your VIN and choose your platform. Then you get access to all the diagrams for everything in the vehicle. Mouse over the switch and you should get a part number.

The vin is important, otherwise it is very hard to get exactly the diagrams for your year and trim level.
