I put a Pioneer FH-S7222BS car stereo in my 2000 4Runner. Everything works great except the power antenna doesn't work. It doesn't rise up like the factory radio did when the radio was turned on. There is a blue wire on the harness that came with the unit that says antenna on it but no other matching wire to attach it to.

I put an aftermarket stereo in my 2nd gen and had the same problems. You need some adapters. There should be two antennas. A regular sized one that will plug into the back, and a smaller, mini antenna (for the power antenna). You'll need some adapters. Basically, you need to get an antenna adapter to make the mini antenna a regular sized antenna end, then get a splitter, plug both antennas into the splitter and plug the splitter into the stereo. I'm in Canada, so one of these links is Amazon.ca, but I believe this can all be found on Amazon.com too.

I couldn't get this one in Canada, so I found something similar at my Canadian Tire, but this should be the same.

I actually did that which made the antenna work and the stations fairly clear. What I meant was the antenna doesn't rise up when the radio is turned on like the factory one did. There is a blue "antenna" wire but no where to connect it too. Sorry if I wasn't clear on the problem.

Oh strange. I did my stereo a while back so its hard to recall what I did, but I'm like 99% sure I wired the blue 'power antenna' wire to a (red?) wire for the antenna. Its a nightmare to rip apart to look, so I'm not gonna pull mine out, but if you have yours apart still, some pictures of the back of the stereo and antenna wires could be useful.

I was doing some searching and it seems like the antenna wire is black and red striped. Do you have a wire like that? If so, I believe thats the one to wire to the stereo.

I believe it is blue with no stripe meaning the antenna wire. I got tied up in some things the last few days but should be able to work on it today. Ill check. Thank you.

So today I threw caution to the wind and hooked up the blue antenna wire from the Toyota harness and the striped blue wire from the new after market stereo. The antenna goes up when the radio is turned on although it doesn't go down when you switch to CD player like the original did. It does, however, go down when the radio is turned off. The car can still be running with out the antenna up as long as the radio isn't on. I consider this a win. Also the adapter for the antenna so that both plug ins could be used worked great! Thanks for that tip.

Glad you got it going! My aftermarket (Alpine) stereo doesn't have a CD player, but it does play Bluetooth audio. The antenna also stays up when its in Bluetooth audio mode. It also goes up if I get a phone call over the stereo. I think thats just the way it is with aftermarket stereos. Whenever the stereo is receiving power, it sends power to the antenna, so it thinks it needs to go up. I bought a switch and I may add it to the stereo eventually so that I can choose when to put the antenna up/down. I have to look at it some more, but I think I need to cut the wire that sends power from the stereo to the antenna and wire the switch into that so I can control when it goes up and down. Something for you to consider in the future, lol.
