You also get a removable top/doors, roll cage, etc that the 4Runner doesn’t provided. Better stock tires too unlike the garbage tires Toyota typically gives us.

I think the Passport, Pathfinder, Ascent and Palisade are what many 4Runner buyers are cross shopping.

They should. I live in city and there are maybe 10 6th gen 4Runners here... why???

Makes absolutely no sense to me, these are pure pavement princesses. Even a Passport is overkill; most of these people need minivans for their families.

But hey, at least the '25+ TRD Pro 4runner has the lowest chance of getting a speeding ticket since Toyota clearly thought the 5h gens were too speedy.

Careful now, any minute now @Archer is gonna come out swinging and accuse you of being merely jealous, like he did in some of his earliest posts here. I don't know how I would react if internet strangers talked smack about something I blew close to 80k on but nobody defends the virtues of 6th gens like him. Touching, really.

Yes! I am EXTREMELY jealous of people spending $75k + taxes + fees for a 4-banger hybrid! I would sell my left n*t for one! :spending:

You just need to add the “Sport” badge and or a spoiler and suddenly it’s cool. Or so they think

I'm sure if Toyota made a TRD Pro or Woodland trim for the Sienna it would sell like hot bread. It would be cheap too just slap the same wheels from a Rav4 Woodland and pretend off-road tires then they'd be cool and suburban parents would brainlessly spend $2000 more just for that trim. Toyota would be printing money at that point.

Toyota has been printing money for decades by not upgrading their cars and still charging a premium for realibility. When they do upgrade their cars, that's when it starts hitting everyone, ie the new 4runner crossing 70k.

And time will tell how the reliability thing goes for all these new rides.

It's fine! If someone wants a new 4runner, this is what is available and that's not changing. I am not sure what the skepticism is about the new 4runner.

Basically, but really cool though because of the badge. It should be manly enough for the suburban dad.

I have reviewed the 6th gen at a local dealer. Aesthetic’s aside, I can see new owners becoming very disappointed in the rear seat usable space. This was the first thing I noticed and was the number one reason I would not be interested in one. How a vehicle that big can lose noticeable leg room is a design failure (of course that’s just an opinion and we all know is said about opinions) just offering up a thought on why some folks may be moving on from them after a little real world usage.

“Opinion is really the lowest form of human knowledge. It requires no accountability, no understanding. The highest form of knowledge… is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another’s world. It requires profound purpose larger than the self kind of understanding.”

I was aboard the minivan train until I realized they were huge but then again they've been that way for 20 years now.

Then everything else (exaggeration) has grown to match so maybe I can get back on board later.

Modern minivans are pretty much the most useful vehicles around. And that’s pretty “manly” if you need to do a variety of useful things. And when I say useful, I mean carrying 8 people, a family of 5 with roadtrip luggage inside the vehicle, or do anything a pickup truck can do, but only better (unless your cargo needs to be loaded with a front-end loader).

Unibody SUV’s have been trying to be minivans for the last 20 years. They’re literally designed and made for people who need minivans, or secretly like them, but wouldn’t be caught dead in one because they’re icky (manly?) That’s why you have to look twice to be able to tell if some SUVs are minivans or not.

Buying a gargantuan unibody SUV like the Passport which is wider than an interstate lane, when you’d be better served by a minivan (and those sweet sliding doors) ,is cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Thusly, and therefore, what 99 percent of people truly need is a minivan.

    :D:cool:

Minivans can be nice I suppose but with how/where we drive our vehicles if I was going to buy one I'd want at least a 4 litter v6 with a inline transmission and 4wd. Let me know if that happens and I'll consider one.

Bring back the AWD Astro & Safari vans. We had one when I was a teen and it was great at everything including towing a boat with its big V6. New minivans are too pavement biased.

I'm contemplating buy a new Savanna van with the L8T V8, install a lift kit and rear lockers.

If only registering and insuring a commercial van as a private owner is not such a trial a tribulation in California.
