Yes it takes power steering hydraulic pressure directly from the PS pump and uses it to reduce the rear brake hydraulic pressure by redirecting it to the front brakes when the sensor on the rear axles ring gear detects that it is not rotating. I had a weird time on my second off road jaunt when I had just serviced the front brakes and the pedal was going to the floor out on the trail. The trail was strewn with many short inclines but the issue finally worked it's self out and has been rock solid ever since but the FSM and the read on how this thing works was very interesting in trying to understand what the hell was going on. I first thought my master cylinder was shot but all I could figure out was air had gotten where it shouldn't have or the actuator was seeing alot more action because of the braking and loose traction on the hills and it was having to actually actuate which I don't think it had been needing to do for a very long time and it may have momentarily gotten stuck.
