Trying to decide between these two tires for a 2019 4Runner TRD Off Road.
My off roading is very light, fire roads, gravel roads, and dirt roads. Nothing heavy. Probably 90% on pavement.
I like the looks of the Pirellis and they get good reviews but some reports are that they are very noisy on pavement and get loader with use.
The Michelin Defenders get very good reviews and are reportedly very quiet and to perform well for light off roading.
I would like to get your opinion on these, especially if you have experience with one or both of these tires. THANKS!!

We have the Defenders on my wife’s ‘02 Sequoia and they will take us anywhere you would want go in 4WD low (haven’t tried them in deep mud...but that’s not our thing). When my stock Bridgestones wear out on the 4R, I’m going with the Defenders. Same use case as yours. Go Dawgs!

We have the Defenders on my Wife’s suburban and have had good luck with them. They do decent in snow, and the little off-roading the suburban has seen they were fine, wet traction is really good, especially pulling a boat out of the water on a slippery boat ramp. About 35K miles on them and still look new, treadware is good, very quiet on the highway compared to the junk dunlops that are on my 4Runner. They don’t look aggressive or anything, but I would say they are a great compromise for a lot of situations…but pricey!

Not sure if your set on those tires only , but if you want an AT tire with street manners then I’ll recommend the Yokohama geolander AT GO15.

quiet on road , not overly aggressive tread pattern and will give you the AT performance your looking for. 3 peak rated as well.
