Hi, I’m new here and looking to buy a 5th generation 4Runner limited (2016). On one of the utube sites we are told that if you drive mainly in 2 wheel drive, you should about once a month drive for a bit in 4 wheel drive so the Automatic Differential Disconnect (ADD) won’t go out. The 4Runner I’m looking at has 138K miles and three owners. The vehicle is at a dealership so I have no idea how the previous owners drove it or if they followed the utube person’s advice. If you have any advice or information about the part time 4 wheel/2 wheel please let me know.

    Thank you.

Welcome to the forum from Wisconsin!

The Limited doesn't have the ADD, due to being full time 4wd. However, I would check that the center diff locker and 4lo actuators work. There might be instructions on how to engage them on the back of the sun visor.
