I'm an old new guy, from deep in the heart of flyover country. I got my 4runner because my 3/4 ton 4x4 diesel crewcab was always getting stuck in the ice/snow. That thing is a one float parade and getting it turned around on an icy two track is not easy(or fun). Had the runner for eight months and so far I like it a lot (it could use a little more power). We get a lot of winter here ,so it is real handy.
