Took a trip to Eastern Tenn to see the In-laws and extended kin. Wifes uncle took us on our 1st off-road tour. Nearest town is Obed.

2200' abandoned RR tunnel. Many hoop-dee-do's in a foot(ish) of water.

STOP !! Trail hazard !! I have been going to Tenn for 45 years. This is the 1st rattler that I have seen. I've heard them before, just never saw one.

The FIL and me checking out an old cemetery a ways off the pavement. We decided to have lunch here. Oldest date I could find was 1789.

I was very impressed with the capability of the 4R. Things I thought I would struggle with I did in 2WD. Using the Down Hill Assist was a total leap of faith, taking my foot off the brake and letting the computer do its thing on some of the steep downhills. I never did get comfortable getting off the brake, but I did it anyway. Works great ! Makes quite the racket, but it works.

The Uncle let me lead on the way back. Way different picking a line yourself than following somebody to show you the best line to take. Wife and I had blast.

Cool! I drove some parts of that several years ago in my old FJ Cruiser - might have to revisit it in my newish 4runner. I never did find the geocache in the tunnel...

My sphincter did get a workout. I had trouble gauging the rear bumper depart angle. Most drops my 'lil voice was yelling "Please, please, please don't bottom out, don't bottom out !" I was afraid I would tear the bumper off of the truck. No problems. Wife's uncle said closest I got on the rear was about 2".
I also have videos. I'll get those up later.
