Took my skid plate off while doing an oil change (not necessary I think) and not sure if I installed it correctly. See photos. I feel like those 2 circled prongs should not be exposed however everything fits together correctly?

Yeah looks exactly like my base sr5 4x4. I would have thought they would come with better skids than the base

I always wondered about the tabs too, but I assume if you want to add extra stuff, there’s your holes for bolts and nuts

For future reference, you just need to lower the front engine skid and remove the 2 bolts holding the access cover in place on the rear skid to get to the drain bolt.

The two tabs at the back are for a splash cover that I think only came on the limited trim. I could be wrong here. I also recall the my gen4 had a small sheild attached here. Think it was pretty flimsy.

@walzone - I'm guessing you didn't know that the small plate with 2 bolts just in front of those two tabs comes off to gain access to the oil drain plug...

I pulled the rear seats out
No harm taking that skid plate off of there. You can clean it up while it is off, and inspect things. And having it off when you change plugs, is kinda good in case you drop something.
