Have a 2022 4R TRD Pro. Total 4R n00b but slowly learning my rig and trying my hand at a few simple mods.
I know the heated steering wheel was offered as an option on some 4R trims starting in 2023. However, my 2022 4R TRD Pro has the blank switch where the heated steering switch appeared in 2023 (just below the push button start).
Have read some mixed reports of some 2022 4R trims (such as Ltd) containing the wiring harness behind the blank switch. Unclear if the wheel is also wired for heating in this instance or not.
Can anyone confirm whether or not the 2022 4R TRD Pro has the heated steering wiring harness and the heated steering wheel present and what is required to engage heated steering? Is it just a matter of installing a plug-and-play switch in the blank spot? Is an OEM heated wheel (maybe from the 2022 Tacoma or the 2023 TRD Pro) also needed? Or is there something else?
    Appreciate the guidance.

I am also curious about this question. @littlemixi what OEM steering wheel part will you be sourcing?

The OEM heated steering wheel is not great. It barely gets warm. Is it better than nothing? Yes. But it’s the weakest heated steering wheel I’ve ever encountered across many vehicles and multiple manufacturers. My point is that you are not missing much.

Oldred make a harness for it. They are released when he has time and gives details on his IG.

Hey OP, gotta say I completely disagree with this. My 2024 ORP heated steering wheel is awesome and your efforts to get one on your truck is worth it.

1000% agree. Since I installed mine, I haven’t driven my 4R without the heated steering wheel on.

I also agree. Mine is warm enough but not super hot where you can’t touch it.

I wish the top and bottom of the wheel got hot also. Mine is only the center section (roughly) of each side. Kind of a let down the first time I used it. But it did get nice and toasty.

The 4R heated steering wheel takes the chill out of it. The heated steering wheel in my Audi and Silverado will very satisfyingly melt the skin of my arthritic hands to it. I guess I’m getting old.

Did you have any issues getting the proper parts from Toyota? I have OldRed's harness but the part numbers don't seem to be entirely distinct for the wheel, clock spring. From what I've seen they appear to encompass 2022 models that, to my knowledge, didn't have heated wheels.

Glad to hear it works well! My dad has a 24 TRD ORP with OEM heated wheel and it definitely takes the edge off on a chilly day.
According to your profile it like you have a 2020 TRD ORP. What steering wheel and/or parts did you source for your retrofit? Thx in advance!

Your best bet if you want OEM is to follow OldReds4R on Instagram. He makes excellent wiring harnesses and includes the exact part numbers you need. ToyotaPartsDeal.com is a great place to order from.

I'll sell the wheel, harness and clock spring I got from cartrimhome. $400+ shipping if not local. I went with OEM parts and harness from old red.
