We will be moving from the Chicago area to a small town in California between the Mojave desert and Death Valley. Going from shoveling snow 10 days in a row to not. Have to get used to 100 plus degrees though. I will be getting a 4runner when we get there and look forward to being an off road newbie.

Welcome from Wisconsin! You'll like that area of the world, it's about a 180 degree turn about from Chicago. 100 degree heat in the desert is not bad compared to 100 degrees by a lake, still hot... but no humidity.

    Welcome from N Austin!!

I spent a little time studying geology and had wonderful experiences at both the Mojave and Death Valley! California is an amazing state for geology, not that you probably care but a little earthly composition can help off-roading in many ways!

    best of luck,
    Cheers!
