    Hello there.
I'm looking into a new used 4runner purchase in next few months.
Working as a travel nurse and pull a small trailer with a 2004 Tacoma.
I hate to sell but it's got 230k miles and I drive 1000s of miles with pets!
Looking for advice on best years for driving long miles as well as different climates and terrains. Living in SW Colorado in rural areas now.
Think I'm clueless at prices for less than 100k miles!

Thanks for adding me to group.

Well, I guess I’ll step up. 2003-2009 4th gen are good rigs, either the 3.4L V6 or, my favorite is the option for the 4.7L V8 in the 4th gen. Step up a notch (more money possibly) to the 2016-2024 gen 5. Look for the balance between miles, condition and price and of course the 4Runner’s nemesis, rust. You or someone needs to look under the vehicle for rust, could tap around with a small hammer. If rust, politely exit and continue looking in Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, Offer-Up, Truck Trader or Certified Used Cars at your local Toyota dealer. Heck, trade in your Tacoma for a lightly used 4Runner, maybe a lease return? Welcome to the forum!

Thank you DesertSurfer. Great advice to work with.
That rust! I bought a 2006 off Facebook prior to my current Tacoma. Even after having someone put it in a lift. Even after like 5 oil changes did I know the extent of it. Or the class action suit until I called Toyota. I should have done more research.
    That's why I joined!
One good thing is I am in Colorado where lots of Toyotas can be found!

    Appreciate it.
