I’ve only engaged 4wd to keep it healthy. Always in a straight line.

We are supposed to get some snow/ice over the next few days and was thinking of using 4h to get to work and back. Would it be ok to use on some of the curvy roads we use up here in North GA? Provided the roads are icy. Or is that bad for the system?

It will be fine, just keep your speed down.

you’ll be fine. You can also use 4wd high in the rain without issue. Now making tight turns in a parking lot may induce some binding if there isnt any slippage.

I live in Wis. If the roads are icy, stay home. The 4R will go where gravity pulls it, regardless of the steering, braking and throttle inputs. Generally, it's in the ditch.

I've had this, even in a snowy parking lot. Apparently I got into a turn rut where the tires dug down and got traction so I could feel it binding. If possible, when you have a tight turn, pull it out of 4wd and go slow (such as parking lots)

if, once it starts snowing, you turn on 4H and full of confidence keep driving at the same speed as on dry pavement, there is an increasing chance to end up in a ditch

    It’s not rocket science.

If you can’t see blacktop, or you can see it but it’s coated, go ahead and use 4H.

When it comes time to make a turn, if you feel like you are having to fight, put it back in 2H.
