Oh gosh, where do I start. How about where I have been personally. Anza Borrego State Park, my favorite, been going there since 1975, 70 miles north of where I live. Lots of varied terrain, sand dunes & sand washes, mountains, hill climbs, near a place called “truck haven”, primitive camping, short drive to the town of Borrego Springs for supplies and restaurants. Borrego is close to Ocotillo Wells SVRA, been there when I was younger riding dirt bikes but too crowded for my liking now. Superstition Mountain is a short distance from Ocotillo Wells and Plaster City (not really a city) and is easy to access from the Freeway 8 corridor, good vast area for exploring. Salton Sea, again, close to Borrego, similar in terrain, has a hot springs near by. Another area off the Freeway 8 corridor is Corral Canyon OHV, near Lake Morena and support services, mountain terrain. Further north in the high desert is Joshua Tree National Park, a must see, beautiful scenery, varied terrain, primitive camping, close to local support services as well. A little further north of Joshua Tree is Johnson Valley, Lucern Valley and Hungry Valley, all great places to off-road. As a side note. This is where “Hurricane” Bob Hannah grew up and learned to ride, a famous motocross racer that I idolized in my youth. Further north is the Big Bear Lake area, beautiful mountain trails from mild to wild, cooler in the summer months due to its higher elevation. Further north is Jawbone Canyon, again, beautiful scenery, varied mountain terrain. After that is the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, I’ll let others chime in on that region. Welcome to the forum, Logan.
