Need UCAs for 285s?

    Hey guys, I read somewhere you need new UCAs for 285s on stock trd off road wheels OR spacers. Any truth to this? I’m running a bilstein 5100 lift, (1.75 front and 2” lift springs in the rear). Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

    You probably don’t need UCA’s. However their suggested.

    Nope. You'll be fine without them at that lift height.

    So the width of the 285s won’t rub the stock UCAs? I know I’ll have to do some trimming or use a heat gun to modify the plastic for rubbing. Do you guys think the 285s will look too big for the lift height? Thanks!!

    Stock OR wheels and 285's will not rub on stock UCA's.

    285's don't look too big with a 1.75" lift, IMO. I have 285's, stock UCA's, and OR wheels with a 1.6" lift in front. :)

    Great, thanks guys. When I wear out these nittos, I’m going 285s in an AT vs these mud terrains. ATs seem to be less heavy and a bit quieter.

    I'd recommend you get UCA's. They make it more driveable. Steering feels tight.
    I did about 25k miles with stock 265 Falkens and an Eibach lift. Steering felt loose on pavement.

    I went a little overboard - SPC UCA's, BMC, and 285's added just last week.
    Figure the BMC isn't needed till you got to 295 - 34 inch tires but it does help prevent rubbing off road with 285's.

    Did you do the pro truck lift with the 2.75” in front and 1” in rear? If so, how did it look with the 265’s? I just got 265 Cooper at3’s like 5,000 miles ago and am wondering if I would look silly. Thanks

    Bigger A/T LT Tires, Slight Lift, Sliders, Rack, Lights, etc.
    I don't think UCA's are necessary for a 1.75" front lift. 2.5-2.75".. such as Eibach Pro-Truck lift.. that's a different story.

    Does a 1.75” front lift level the truck out? Or can you put anything in the back too? I’m looking for a nice lifted level look but don’t know if I want to add UCA also if I can avoid it.

    I did. Looked good to me. With my non-KDSS Off Road it was a 100% handling improvement. Handling in the curves is way better than the stock suspension. Body Roll is gone. Nose dive for normal braking is gone. Still there for emergency braking though.

    That’s looks fantastic! Hard to believe those are 265’s. I’ve been stuck on those trd rims for a while now too.

    I think if you bring the front up 1.5”, you’re about level however, to prevent the bro squat, I did 1.75 in the front and 1.5” rear lift spring and I love the way it sits.

    Thanks, its a 255-75R17 Nitto trail grappler, they are about an inch skinner than a 285 but are mud terrains so you don’t need the extra width. The 255 with 75R vs the 70R makes them a 32” tire, so they are in between a 265 and 285 in height. They have been great so far.

    I'm on 295/70/17's and 2.3"/1.5" lift and I think it looks fine.

    I kinda like the TRD rims. Not ready to ditch them yet. Here it is with UCA's and 285's.

    Just be aware that DRobs has a front bumper and winch added which brings his front end down just a tad, at least.

    Yes.. that's probably perfectly level with no weight in the rear. If you lift the back, too, just add that amount to the 1.75 for the front for a level look... such as 2.75 F and 1 R... etc.
