    Hi everyone!

I initially had no doubt that I would purchase the 4WD because 4WD is what I’ve had for decades ... even though I rarely use it. Still I think it’s a security knowing it’s available.

But now I am conflicted… After reading that 4WD parts (sorry forgot what parts) can dry out if not regularly lubricated and that the 4WD needs to be routinely engaged. I haven’t ever had an issues with past 4WD vehicles due to not actively using it..... but just need some feedback. I don’t go off-road… But I thought it would be nice to have 4WD to get out of my hilly driveway during the occasional KY snowfalls ... (maybe averages 12-20 inches/season).

    Your thoughts? Thank you!

    4wd 100%.

I don’t regularly engage my 4wd, and am sure other people don’t or never have and it’ll work just fine 10 years later with 200k on the odometer. Better to have than to wish you did.

Dude. Do not get a truck or suv without 4wd. You’ll regret it. First off if you never used it it probably won’t break the one little time you do. Second if you want to keep it lubed up just drive itin 4hi a couple times a month in a straight line and your good. Also, It’s covered under warranty same as a 2wd.

Better to have it and not need it, or that when time when you do need it and don’t have it you will be sol!

Toyota 4Runners are built to last. In my mind it is akin to committing a cardinal sin if you were to buy it in 2WD.

Don't get a 4runner that is 2wd! I know a guy that did and he regretted it immediately. 4x4 is the way to go my dude. @flyinhoot is right! Owners manual states that too ;)

    Hi Everyone!
Thanks for all your guidance when I was in a “fog” not knowing what decisions to make. I def didn’t get a 2WD,, I got the 4WD / SR5 Prem/ in Super White. I hadn’t even test drove one b4. I swear when they drove her up in the lot & I looked at that front view—I swear she growled at me, lol! What an aggressive beauty. So glad I dumped the Jeep Trailhawk for this beast!

Congrats! Im pretty partial to the white myself. Go find a trail to try out the A-trac system. Youll be shocked what that rigs capable of.

I don't know anybody who has ever said "wish I didn't get the 4x4" but I've heard the other way around countless times!

    They sell 2WD 4-Runners? What's up with that? Wouldn't that be a 2-Runner?

Who cares? This never shows everything anyway.
You live in Kentucky. Get the 4WD.

don't buy 2Runner in any case.
if you do feel 2wd is enough, don't buy 4Runner. Its on-road performance and highway performance really really sucks, compared to regular SUV. wind noise is crazy when you go over 60mph, and gas mileage is simply poor. Highlander does way way better.

As others have stated, better to have and not need, then to need and not have. 4WD
