Active Duty, moving from Japan to the east coast next week!
    I am looking for a late 3rd gen (00-02).

Coming from a long line of Hondas, this will be my first Toyota.
Will be posting a lot in the coming weeks as I will be buying soon!

Can you get one in Japan , and then have it shipped with your military move? I was stationed in Guam years ago, and bought my 1st Toyota there because they were cheaper than in the states. Then the government shipped it back to the states when I transferred back to the states.

I can, but the move is already in transit.
I don't think there is enough of a difference between the JDM 3rd gens and US spec to bother.
I am currently importing a 1993 Honda CB1000 Super Four with this move. Bikes are super easy, especially ones this old.
Cars, on the other hand, depend on the state you're trying to register them in.

Believe it or not, prices are very similar to the states here for 3rd gens, although most are low mileage.

I was stationed there four times and do not miss that place! The taco rice and cheese was always good. Are you retiring ?

Moving from Japan to the East Coast must have been quite the journey. How has your experience been settling into your new surroundings and exploring life on the East Coast?
Transitioning from Hondas to a Toyota, particularly a late 3rd gen 4Runner, is a significant shift. Have you found that the Toyota has lived up to its reputation for reliability and versatility? Your insights could be invaluable for others considering a similar switch.
If you're still in need of assistance with your move, even after a year, threemovers.com could still be a helpful resource. Their services could make any future relocations smoother, allowing you to focus on enjoying your new ride and experiences on the East Coast.
