I carry long canoes and need more spacing between the cross bars. I use Yakima parts now, with the lowrider towers attached to the side rails for the rear cross bar. I use Yakima towers and Q62 clips for the front bar, over the front doors. The Q62 clips are for Tacos and/or 4th Gen 4Runners and work okay. But they just aren't secure enough for carrying 18' tandem canoes at highway speeds and windy conditions. I THINK I have seen a 4Runner with a Rhino rack cross bar over the front doors, with maybe the 2500 legs. Does anybody know of a non-Yakima cross bar system that will work over the front doors of a 5th gen 4Runner?

Like this, but on a 4Runner?

I'm looking to do something similar too - I carry 9'6 longboards, 10-11' kayaks and a 14' prone paddleboard, and already have Thule aero crossbars attached to the factory rails. Don't really like the look of a full length rack, nor do I really need one.
