Does anyone have the concise location on which 9 Amp fuse the May Day one is located in the fuse box?

Got a lot of conflicting and perhaps 'old' diagrams etc., from the web that don't match up to what I'm looking at in the main fuse box.

The May day is a 9 amp. There are 3 in my fuse box, and it's not labeled so don't want to start pulling them to narrow down the results as one might be for fuel injection etc.

Does anyone out there know exactly for the model year 2023 which 9 amp. it is. Does anyone have a current diagram? This is also very difficult to non existent including the manual for the vehicle showing the exact layout of the fuses.

    thanks

    Thanks.

Yes, it's basically the telematics system and the emergency SOS features. taking this out will disable the cellular activity to/from the truck. I don't want any cellular connections. When I bought the vehicle the first thing I had the salesperson do was to call Toyota and opt out of all of these features. But I still have a feeling the system is active even though I don't have Toyota emergency services features active.

It shows on 'older' fuse box schematics from earlier year trucks, it is called 'Mayday'. But those earlier diagrams don't match with the newer year units I guess? My 2023 in the fuse box doesn't have it marked as such. So it's a guessing game between the three different 9 amp'ers.

I may have found my answer:

Survey Note: Detailed Analysis of the 2023 Toyota 4Runner "Mayday" Fuse
This note provides a comprehensive examination of the "mayday" fuse in the 2023 Toyota 4Runner, drawing on available resources and community discussions to ensure a thorough understanding. The analysis begins with an overview of the fuse's likely identity, followed by its location, supporting evidence, and additional context for users seeking detailed technical information.

    Identification of the "Mayday" Fuse
The term "mayday" is not standard in automotive fuse labeling but appears to be a colloquial or user-specific reference to the fuse controlling emergency communication systems. Research suggests that this is likely the DCM (Data Communication Module) fuse, which powers the telematics system, including features like Safety Connect. Safety Connect, offered by Toyota, includes emergency assistance, roadside assistance, and automatic collision notification, aligning with the "mayday" function implied by the user's query.

Evidence from online forums, particularly a discussion on the Toyota 4Runner Forum dated January 2020, indicates that users searching for the "mayday" fuse in 2020 models identified it as the DCM fuse. This fuse was noted to disable data collection when removed, affecting remote control app functionality, which further supports its role in telematics. Given the continuity of the fifth-generation 4Runner (N280) design from 2010 to 2023, it seems likely that the 2023 model retains this labeling.

    Location and Access
The DCM fuse is expected to be located in the interior fuse box, under the driver's side instrument panel, to the left of the steering wheel, behind a small removable cover. To access it, users should:

    1. Turn off the engine to ensure safety.
    2. Kneel down and look up under the dash to locate the cover.
    3. Gently pull off the cover to reveal the fuse panel.
This location is consistent with the placement of fuses controlling electronic and communication systems, as opposed to engine-related components, which are typically in the engine compartment fuse box.

    Fuse Specifications and Diagram
Based on the fuse box diagram for the 2022 Toyota 4Runner available on StartMyCar, the DCM fuse is a 7.5A mini fuse at position 18 in the interior fuse box. The diagram, sourced from the 2022 owner's manual, lists it as "(DCM) Data communication module (telematics system)" in the second table, suggesting it is part of the accessory fuse grid. Given the lack of reported changes in fuse layout between 2022 and 2023, it is reasonable to assume this position holds for the 2023 model.

The fuse box itself is a rectangular grid with multiple rows and columns, typically 2-3 rows and 10-15 columns, totaling around 30-40 fuses. Each slot is numbered, and the cover or manual provides a legend for the function. The DCM fuse's color, indicating 7.5A, is likely brown, based on standard automotive fuse color coding.

On the wiring diagram circa 2010 there is a fuse labeled Mayday under the hood. So I the term is not merely colloquial. At some point in the 4Runner’s evolution it was moved into the driver’s footwell and relabeled DCM.
