I had my 4Runner (SR5 V6) in Texas as a “go home” vehicle. Recently I drove it to California and noticed when I was cruising at 75-80mph in the hilly parts, it felt like it took lots of effort to maintain speed. My other cars are a Golf GTI and Mini Cooper S. I know the 4Runner is not going to act like them at all, but it just felt like it was really struggling to go up hills. Mind you, this is at higher speed and only turning around 2300 rpm.
Does this sound normal? Anything I can do in general to get more power at higher speeds?

That's normal. You're driving an almost 5000 lb brick with an engine that doesn't make a lot of power at low RPM.

And no, short of supercharging there's really nothing you can do to increase power.

I would say pop the shifter over into sequential mode, that will lock out overdrive (5th gear) so you'll be turning at higher RPM, where there's a little bit more power available.

    Wamp wamp.
Don’t know if I’ll put a super charger on it, think I’ll just accept it for now.

Less oxygen at high altitude. Drop it down to 4th or even 3rd if needed.
