    Hi, new from Tennessee!
I just got a 2020 TRD pro and I've never been in love with a vehicle until now. I joined to find people who understand what I'm going through and for "relationship advice."

Runners suck. I hate mine and can't wait to get rid of it in another 20-30 years. LOL

I liked mine when I bought it but yes, the like has turned to love. I don't even look at other vehicles anymore. Nothing else interests me at all.

    Welcome to the forum!

These vehicles are easy to get attached to, for sure! I had a fling with a Tacoma from 2017 to 2019. I actually felt depressed after trading in the old 4runner. I made things right again last January, and couldn't be happier!

Let's see some pictures of your 4runner! :)

Love certainly fits the bill for my 4Runner. Infatuation fits the bill for my Shelby GT500.

    Looks sweet!

How do you like the OEM LED fog lights?

I like them! They are bright and throw a lot of light out to the sides. I haven't had to use them for actual fog yet, but they have been great to have on dark roads. Although, they do make me want LEDs for the the headlights. I'm a little jealous the 2021s are going to come with those. Sorry I dont have a better picture.

Couldn't agree more. I had my dealer put them on my 2020 Limited. For those who don't know, Toyota sells these from their accessories catalog. $130. Or $240 installed. They put out a lot of usable light to the sides. Big help seeing stuff that might come at you from the woods or whatever along the side of the road. Not as good as having cornering lights when you're actually cornering, but still a big help there. Without them you can't see sh*t around corners -- the stock halogen headlights sure are disappointing.

Fingers crossed that Toyota will sell the 2021 LED headlights to those with older 4Rs, and that they will be good (some OEM LED headlights are pretty poor -- see my thread here: https://www.4runners.com/threads/ye...thread-on-led-headlights-but-different.14648/ )

Thanks for sharing all your research! I hope that they will be decent quality and offered as an upgrade for previous models.

It's good that I will have to wait a while to find out. This weekend I'm getting paint protect film on the impact zones and ceramic coat on the whole truck and wheels. $$$ I need to slow down on the spending after that.

My wife had one, and I liked it so much I got one. Then we just both had one.

Also OP, always looking for places to offroad in TN, but there aren't a ton on the west side. I'm assuming since you actually found dirt you're on the east side. Smokies are great, but it's kinda boring around Memphis.

We have a 2005 2wd sr5 that we use to run a mobile dj business. It's unbelievable the amount of equipment we can fit in there. Driving that is what won me over.

Actually I'm in Germantown! This was by the wolf river. I was just dying to see how it handled off road and there was just enough mud and hills and gravel for me to sample the 4wd and crawl control.

I feel like you probably have to get AT LEAST 2 to 5 hours out of Memphis any direction to do any remotely scenic off-roading. Is that what you've found to be true?

I pretty much feel that way about mine. It's a pretty plain SR5, but it's exactly what I want. I mean, it can tackle the trails, carry lumber, lawn mowers etc and generally get down and dirty. Then it cleans up real nice for a night out and looks elegant. I mean, it's pretty much the ME of motor vehicles. What's not to love?

Reading this thread has me thinking maybe I should sell the 4Runner. Ha.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a wonderfully competent vehicle. I like it, but it isn’t perfect by any stretch.

It might be better with a 6 or 8 speed tranny that's proven as reliable as the 5 Spd it has now. Doesn't Toyota have such a tranny in vehicles like the Land Cruiser or Sequoia or their Lexus SUVs?

My “love” of the 4Runner is knowing that it is a durable and reliable vehicle. I can appreciate that others have more of a connection with their 4Runner. To be honest, I wish I had that with mine, but while it’s nice, I could easily see replacing it and not regretting it.

That said, I’m had about 30 vehicles so far and have yet to find “the one”, but the 4Runner is almost it.

Well I'm in Collierville so you'll see me around. I have Imperial Symbols on my rear glass and lime green shackles on the front, you won't miss it.

And now that you mention the Wolf River thing, ironically I was there on Sunday. It's the hill by the river access over by Shelby Farms, I know exactly where that photo was taken because it's my test spot for flexing stuff out and showing people how well it climbs! Small world.

And no, 2 - 3 hours minimum btw. Hawk Pride in AL, Hot Spring ORV in AR, and Ozarks and stuff are about the closest.

Yes, I also left the Toyota dealership with a box of these LED fogs, and the difference is night and day. The stock ones aren't bad, but the LED's are 100% better. Had them on my '19 too, but ordered and installed them, then I got rid of the '19.

    ... And welcome!

    Cheers,

    Sean

I'm definitely going to keep my eyes peeled!! If you see a black pro honking like crazy, it's me haha.

You are exactly right about the spot. There are some pretty deep ruts on those hills.
What suspension/lift changes have you made? I was a little iffy in some areas about my ground clearance.

I have owned quite a few Toyota’s over the years and I love them. When I had my 17 Pro I traded in on my 2020 Pro got almost what I paid. There reliable and the value is crazy on them. Especially the Pro’s. I don’t need a V8 in my 4runner. It’s fine the way it is. That’s why there so popular the way there built.
