    Hi everyone,

I'm looking to upgrade the stock head unit in my 4th gen 4Runner (2003–2009) and I'm hoping to get some recommendations from those who’ve done similar installs. I'm specifically interested in an Android-based radio with a modern look and a 10.1-inch screen (floating or flush-mount is fine).

Ideally, I’d like something that supports:

    • Wireless Apple CarPlay / Android Auto

    • Steering wheel control integration

    • Backup camera support

    • Clean fit with minimal dash modification (if possible)
If you've installed something like this, I’d love to hear what radio you recommend, how the install went, and whether you’re happy with the performance and UI. Pictures would be super helpful too!

    Thanks in advance!

You probably are already aware of Crutchfield but that's where I would go.

Well, I can tell you about one that I do NOT recommend... I picked up an xtrons universal double din with a 10.1" screen from Amazon almost a year and a half ago. This one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BKSRPJT4

It has all the features that you're looking for, and when it works it's great. However, every time I start the car I seem to have about even chance of it either 1) coming back from a sleep state, 2) rebooting from scratch in a minute or so, or 3) not powering on at all.
