Looking at getting stock a 2005. I want to get it lifted. I'm moderately handy and good at following instructions but no mechanic by any stretch. Have worked on trucks in past but never did a lift or changed shocks and springs. Is trying my first one on my own feasible or would it be best to get the parts and have a shop do it? What did you all do?

DYI is very popular among the enthusiast on here but coming from first hand experience you’ll need a second set of hands. Worst case scenario they can at least hold your beer while you’re wrenching.

I tried doing my lift by myself and had to phone a friend cuz I was having a hard time and just having someone else there was a huge help.

good luck with your build let us know what you end up doing

I used icons up front and toytec for the rear. The hard part is that everything is longer so I had to use a bottle jack on the upper control arm to make more room. Same with the rear I had to use a bottle jack to give me more room. Wasn’t the safest but I made it work with no injuries :D

Those are the little tricks that no one mentions when doing lifts. Makes life easier. Once you do it, the second time around will be a breeze.

After the suspension settled I adjusted the front up to about 2 3/4” in the front and the back settled to about 3”.
