Lift recommendation to run 33" tires?

    2018 4Runner TRD Off-Road
    None yet. Just switched out factory tires for A/T.
    I have a 2018 4Runner TRD off-road and want to upgrade to 33" tires.

    What lift is recommended? Would I still need to trim or chop with a lift?

    And would I need to regear?

    you might need BMC to fit these, but snickel is right about the lift.

    RSG sliders, Yakima offgrid basket, Pro-Comp wheels, SOS Streamline bumper and skids, Warn VR EVO10S winch + Ultimate Sidewinder, Bilstein 6112 + 5100 + rear lift coils, Rigid Dually SS ditch lights w/Caliraised brackets and OEM style dash switch
    I'm running 285/70/17 (32.9") tires. I have the BMC, buy I don't know if it was necessary. Lift doesn't necessarily clear big tires if you're actually flexing the suspension, as mentioned above.

    As @Snickel Fritz mentioned, a tall skinny tire will clear more easily, and they're very popular for off-roading. A 255/70/17 is actually taller than my 285's and fits better (from what I've read, no guarantee).

    I haven't re-geared mine, and I don't intend to unless I go bigger (34-35"). You can always regear after the tires if you feel it's necessary. Buying lighter tires and wheels will help.

    I have 295/70/17 which measures out to 33.3” tall, and minimally you’ll need a body mount chop and fender liner work. I did a minor front bumper cut to avoid any rubbing, and at full flex with the tires turned all the way, I’m rubbing on the pinch weld so I need to bring out the ol hammer and hammer that weld flat. And after that, it depends how wide you’ll want to go and what specs you get your wheels in. You’ll also want to consider upper control arms to dial in your alignment and minimize the rubbing.
