I’m new here, just bought my 2nd 4Runner. It’s my first with the kdss and dealer says I cannot do a leveling kit or I’ll void the warranty. It’s a 2022 TRD off road, btw. Any advice on how to get around this or should I just wait it out…the warranty that is. Thanks in advance.

Yes, my buddy got the same problem. Toyota dealership refuse to install their leveling kit for KDSS. They only install level kits on non KDSS 4Runners. Same with XREAS on Limiteds.

A good Toyota specialized 4x4 shop should give you multiple suspension lift options. here in Colorado Toytec Lifts / RSG Offroad are top notch 4x4 shops who do KDSS lifts. Share your location and our members will share if they did KDSS lift near you.

Apparently, you could do it prior to the 2022 model according to the dealer. I’m in Northeast Georgia. I don’t want to void the warranty, but would like more ground clearance for off roading and a less stock appearance. Thanks for the response.

    1. Refused for 2017 KDSS as well.
    2. Even for non KDSS they state that Toyota warranty is void for suspension related issues but dealer warranty is there for 1 year.

    Update -
Me personally have no trust on the after market 4x4 shop for suspension related work than Toyota dealer. Toyota dealer had no idea how to fix high-end suspension and after market UCA after an accident. They messed up royally and I had to complain to Toyota Corporation and dealer agree to buy back the vehicle.

I did a lift on my 2016 myself using Dobinson springs, coil overs, UCA, etc. Guidance was to keep it under 3" so I did 3" in front and 2" in rear to level it out and added a 1" differential drop to avoid any issues with the CVAs (even though you don't really need to do that unless you go over 3". Most likely they don't want to install them as it is a PIA holding the pistons up in place but it really wasn't' that bad.

Another warranty thread. Yes you touch the suspension it will void the suspension warranty but not the entire vehicle warranty.
