    stock... so far
I'm looking to level my '08 Limited V8 which is otherwise stock. The difference in clearance between the front and back (from top of tire to the top of the wheel well) is about 3" when not loaded up. I am thinking about getting these coilovers and shocks to replace my stock outfit, which according to this video, should level it out pretty well, plus it'd be nice to just replace the shock absorbers in the back to match.

Both coilovers and shock absorbers are take-offs from a Tacoma and should work, but I'm weary since I've never attempted something like this before.

Would it be a mistake for any reason to do this? Is there anything I need to consider before pulling the trigger?

I've not personally done tacoma shocks on a 4th gen but read it's a direct bolt on minus a few very minor mods to the front shock if memory serves me right. I did however put tacoma front on my 2022 5th gen and it's a direct bolt on. It netted me 1.5" of lift over the OEM coilovers that came with the rig. Tacoma take off's on a 4th gen, I believe some have reported getting a 2-3" lift. 4th and 5th gen share similar chassis. The rears will also be a direct bolt on (shocks) but they're not recommended for the 4runner. It's not valved for the weight of a 4runner as a tacoma is lighter in the rears. You'll bounce around like crazy. You could however get the 5th gen 4runner rears (shocks and springs) and use those, then again you may be a little lower in the rear due to the 2-3" you'll get from the taco front.

I'm curious about your 2022 5th Gen with Taco shocks. Were they the off-road Bilstein coil overs with the oem Taco springs? I'm thinking of doing the same to level out my 2022 5th Gen since I have some coil overs from a 2021 Tacoma off-road.

They were the yellow ones off a 2020 or 2021 taco off road 4x4. With the rears stock, it levels it out perfectly. Very similar to the trd pro stance.

Did you use the Tacoma coils (springs) that were originally on the yellow ones?

Yes, they were direct take offs from the taco. Nothing was changed

    Front lift with Tacoma struts
My 06 was nearly dragging the ground in the front, well not quite but you know how they look. Here are stock 4runr and Tacoma (2012 I think) struts. These bolted right up. Think the spacer could have been left off but wasn’t sure how much lift if was going to have. Really about 4” in front but they are 2+” too low to begin with. It’s very stiff now almost like the 84/85 straight axle trucks were. Put rubber spacer above rear spring also but haven’t changed rear shocks yet. Def need UCAs now and probably 285s or similar to fill out wheel wells.

The tacoma trd offroad takeoffs are going to sag a tad unless you change the springs due to the additional weight in the V8.

Lots with more in the works
This is not entirely correct. Yes the V8 is a little heavier but not by that much. The Tacoma Bilstiens work just fine on the front of the 4th gen 4runner V8. Been there done that.
