I bought my wife a 2020 4Runner TRDOR about 2 or 3 months ago. Finally talked her away from a Jeep Wrangler. I asked her why she liked the wranglers so much. She said it’s because they looked rugged. I couldn’t disagree with her. I told her that the 4Runner was an all around better vehicle and that I could build it to look more rugged. So…. And here… we …. Go.

So far I have gotten some method 312 blacked out wheels on some 285/70/17 ridge grapplers. Changed the grill to TRD Pro, blacked out the badges, installed smoked white raptor lights and replace the lighting with LED. I bought a lift and have received icon delta UCA, OME rear springs, Toyotech diff drop kit. As of now I’m missing the sway bar links and the king 2.5 EXT shocks. Been told it was gonna be a while. It’s been 2 months. I’m partial to Kings due to me running them on my Taco and loving them. I know opinions may vary but are there any other brands competing with king or are they still king?

btw, still waiting to put the rims and tires on till I get the shocks. Any input on shocks would be greatly appreciated. Also, I’m not in any kind of rush it was just my understanding that king is best so that’s what we went with.

Other top of the line shock brands are icon, radflo, ADS, Dobison and so on. It really comes down to what you’re looking to get from the shock as some of those are valved differently so they’ll give you a different ride quality in different environments. One or the other isn’t necessarily better, just comes down to needs/wants.

Maybe a little more info would help, how much lift are you looking for (front & rear)?

I was thinking about 3 in the front and 2 in the rear.
