Well consider ourselves lucky and blessed to have seen them. The turkeys aren’t coming by any more. And there are random shots at night. They are true survivors...

Perhaps the random shots at night are the slime balls that shoot them out of the trees after dark. I'm not tree hugger and have no issue with hunting but that's just wrong.

I hope it’s at coyotes. The last time I visited my property in Pa the neighbor had a pile of bait/corn and a trail-cam right in the middle of it. They will get theirs/what’s coming in the end.....a ticket..

Just saw the gobbler while workin, at 1:30 and 2:45. He is BIG with like a twelve inch beard. I’ve been huntin this guy for years and he is very smart. Rolls out quick can’t even get a pic. Gonna “Gitcha, Gitcha, Gitcha”!!!!

Day:1 I had an encounter with a squirrel and thought to myself I should be squirrel huntin. Then a small red fox ran by. I thought kewl so I started reading my bible. All of the sudden all hell broke loose and two big bucks were fighting sounded like WWE was layin the smack down!!! 75 yards couldn’t tell what they looked like exactly but at least I’m in a good spot. Then two doe walked by in range....I’m goin for a biggun!!

Deer and elk season starts the 10th in Idaho. We are driving about 60 miles out of town to the deep woods, then parking at a forest service gate that has just enough room by design to get around the side with a 50" ATV.

Then we are loading up two ATVs pulling two small trailers that have all of our gear, and riding another 8 miles deep into the woods to set up base camp.

Base camp will be a 16' canvas outfitters tent with a wood stove in it.

From base camp, we will go out and scout each morning to see where the elk are. Usually take an ATV to the general area and then go on foot for about ten miles a day.

I miss hunting in the Midwest. Bigger deer and so much easier to hunt.

But then again, you just don't have the remoteness and wilderness that is common out here.

If we see another human being while hunting, then it's too crowded.

Man, you guys are gonna stink, prob wouldn’t have a chance at a Va whitetail....Good luck I’m sure it will be breathtaking...I have great respect for your planning and follow through. If I walked ten miles I would probably croak, but I have to drag this sucker up hill a few hundred yards...

Beautiful morning. Hopefully this fog clears. It's about a 6 mile hike in all uphill. We killed a nice 3 point last weekend hopefully we see another!

Edit.. ended up seeing a mama bear and 2 cubs. Couple does no antlers though. Doe tag starts in a couple weeks for this unit.

Day3: Action!! The flock of turkeys “4 prob” creeps in on me, calling and sounding like a heard of elephants. They cross in front and only saw them for a second. Stayed hidden in the greenery. Then the two doe I saw Sat came in perfect one was broadside at ten yards so I took the shot. My bolt went straight into the ground!! WTH I got down and shot it at my target. The bolt was damaged I think I may have messed it up installing the Lighted knock. Lesson learned: practice with the exact bolts your hunting with before hand....

Day4: Ground Hog, 4 yards!!B5D9F443-1660-489D-A7B0-053C829CBC53.jpgThe neighbors decided to ride 4wheelers all evening, my chances of tagging a deer are 50% less. So I’m just gonna squirrel hunt next...

Day7: At sunset I heard two turkeys roost in the distance. All of the sudden a big coyote appeared!!! I haven’t seen one in over twenty years. I dropped the hammer at 25 yards! He took off and did the hundred yard dash right into a thicket. I will find him tomorrow and get the pelt tanned.....8B00BA5B-F920-4D17-9A37-CE376AC87C47.jpg

Day 8: Had a flock of turkeys near me. Almost got the draw on two but they saw me and dipped out quick. The flock was clucking, purring, and calling having a Turkey Jamboree!! I think they just realized Mr. Coyote is gone. These birds were HUGE....
