Latest Technology vs Appropriate Technology

    I gotta be honest, even if I agree with the core point, such loaded language from a "publication" is so skeevy. It's not even "news" but "here's fiery text to make you feel better about your opinions", maybe even the Scotty K of websites.

    That said, classic automakers plus software.

    I wouldn't mind trying out an F-150 Lightning some day but I do not want that huge display with the dial in it or to deal with OTA updates that might brick it unexpectedly. (Pro trim has physical HVAC controls but no extended range pack for non-fleet purchases.)

    Nothing's inherently less reliable about an automotive display versus a physical gauge cluster. (even as I'd prefer actual gauges)

    But good lord even software companies today have their flops with how much complexity/technical debt there is and that's a device moving at 0 mph I can reboot on a dime.
