Hi There - Is there a way to tell if a used 4runner has KDSS? I am currently in the hunt for a used 5th get 4runner and some of the places selling are not toyota dealers. When i ask about KDSS they do not know what i'm talking about because they are chevy dealer or other. Is there a way to figure it out by pictures or ways to tell them if it is on there?

You can look for the hydraulic pistons on the driver's side of the sway bars, or the hydraulic lines running along the driver's side frame rail.

If your able to look in person, KDSS= sway bar connects to lower control arm, Non KDSS= sway bar connects to spindle. One quick way to tell visually.
    Hope that helps.

Here's a picture of the front sway bar piston on mine.

When you turn on the key, the KDSS light is visible to the far lower right on the dash and it comes on for a few seconds before the engine starts.
