    Damn!!!
Y'all let this thread just die.
I'm getting mine tuned Sunday, and if this is anything like the tune I got for my Tacoma, I can say right now that I'm gonna be happy with it.
I'll give you all my first impression of it when I drive it home.

How will these tunes respond if one occasionally pulls a utility trailer with an ATV on it?
    Has anyone tried?

Looking forward to your review. I've sort of lost touch with Brian about my tune scheduling. I thought I would have heard from him sooner, but it's been about a month, no contact.

The KDMax-Pro 9.0 of course. Or will it be the XT since it's a '17 @PapaRee?

    So............I got my tune today.
    And.............all I can say is..........DAMN!!!!!!
I love it!!! I noticed an improvement immediately. My initial reaction was, WOW!!! I had a smile on my face from ear to ear.
I'll come back and give another review on it once I've driven it for a little while.
But if you have a 4Runner, you may not know it, but you need this tune.

Is anyone going to do a dyno of a stock 4Runner and than do a KDMAX tune dyno run the same day? People keep saying next week, next month, soon yet no has. You would sell a lot more if you did.

@PapaRee and @TWTaco - at the risk of stepping on someone's toes (or territory) I still hadn't heard anything, and was revisiting this thread. On a whim I just took a look at the map on page 1 of this thread - it now shows the gentleman at Miller Performance, Scott Miller in southern NM or El Paso, as covering Albuquerque...would that be a new update, and Brian is no longer the contact for a tune in Albuquerque?

I've actually had a person-to-person conversation with Scott when he was travelling through Albuquerque a few weeks ago, and he told me all about the tune product, but did not want to get involved with my efforts to have a tune done, as Albuquerque was not his territory at the time, and he was respecting the parameters in place for having a tune done. I'm just trying to go forward with this project however it best works for the KDMAX system in place.

I spoke with Scott over the weekend - we're working on a day/time later this week for a tune, thanks.

Curious what you think after the initial week with the tune. I removed the Sprint Booster yesterday in anticipation of the tune being done later this week, and while the 4R doesn't drive significantly different, I do feel it lost a bit of zip...

I never put a Sprint booster or a Pedal Commander on mine, so to me, this was a big improvement.
I still feel the same way about it after the 1st week. I'll be filling it up in a couple days, but I don't expect an improvement in gas mileage with this tank, because I've been playing a little bit. But we'll see.
I also haven't had it on the interstate yet either, but I'll be doing that soon also.

I’d be curious to know if any of these trucks are built, or stock, somewhere in between?

How about a heavy build on 35s and 488 gears? Does the tune account for those factors?

If it’s an improvement it would be cheaper than a SC. Or it could be worth it if it increased MPG.

In my case, the 4R is pretty much stock. .85 lift in the front with Eibach shocks, stock height with Eibach shocks in the back. The only heavier things I've added are sliders, and an RCI aluminum front skid.

I will say this about the Sprint Booster - it didn't make the truck any faster, just quicker. What I mean by that is it took less pedal input to get it to accelerate or downshift for passing. I took it off yesterday (most likely to go up for sale), and the 4R gets up to speed fine, just a bit slower.

I expect that the tune will not only make the truck zippier, but overall better performing in all aspects. I've read too many threads about tuning vs. pedal enhancing devices to not expect a lot more than what my Sprint Booster could possibly do.

So.......I filled it up last night, then drove it on the highway for the first time. I still love it, but I can't wait for the update for the transmission tune comes. I'm in Kentucky, so it's hilly here. Some inclines will make it drop to 3rd gear, but it was doing that before.
So come on with that transmission update!!!!!

Wish I had more info for you at this time, but didn't get much seat time after the tune. I did do an initial run around yesterday immediately after the tune, but the freeway was jammed, and didn't get to open it up at all before having to hit the brakes again due to the traffic. Initial impression - the truck seems to have come alive, shifting and acceleration are much smoother. I can't say I am totally floored by the difference, but I can tell it is more responsive. You have to color all my comments with the fact that I usually drive like the proverbial old geezer, like there's a raw egg between my foot and the go pedal. I did notice that acceleration seems to happen with less pedal input, and if I wasn't careful, I'd be going 50 mph on a 40 street before noticing. Time will tell, and perhaps a trip to Santa Fe, with some good sized hills on the way there.

Hey Dane - did you have the throttle set to normal or sport? I got the normal, and now I wish I had at least tried the sport before Scott (@elnip) left, just tor a comparison...

There wasn't a choice with mine. Unless there was something that we didn't know, there was no choice of throttle settings.

Update on KDMAX Pro 9.0 Tune: 2023 TRD Off Road Premium with KDSS. No other mods, for now.

Have had the tune since January 15th, 2023. I have noticed significantly better throttle response. Seat-o-the-pants dyno, more torque and power. Gas mileage has increased 1-2 MPG on 91 OCT (when driven normally). Better all around drivability. Best first mod yet for the money in opinion. Saving for tires and suspension lift (2-2.5"). Will update again after significant mods have been added.

    But overall for now :101010:

Yo! I used to live right around the corner from there and would sit at the counter at Chubby's for a lunch time beer and cheesesteak all the time. I live in California now and your post made me hungry. They just don't understand sandwiches or bread out here.

Hope the tuning sessions went well.
