I got my 10.0 tune about 2 months ago. I did a 3500 mile trip from Tucson to Cody WY. I've done this trip annually for about 20 years three different 4Runners and a Taco. With the tune on my '22 4Runner ORP with sliders, 275 Toyos, skids and heavily loaded I gained about 1.5 mpg, no gear hunting, gears held longer and no throttle lag. The trip was more enjoyable and I appreciated the throttle response.
It's not a hot rod but significantly improved. My RPMs @ 80 were 2200. I drove 80- 90 MPH as much as possible and went through AZ, UT, CO, NM and WY.
    I'd still like Dyno info.

Anyone in the area should jump on this. @elnip tuned mine, even though he's a ways off. We've managed to coordinate times and locations, and he has been very accommodating, which has been greatly appreciated. The 10.0 tune, while not advertised as doing so, has bumped up my mpg noticeably.

Glad to see this thread back open.

Met up with Larry at his place in Poway. Larry has a 2010 4Runner 4x SR5. We got him set up on Pro-10.0 with Normal throttle. We went on a nice test drive Larry wanted to see how it did going up some steeper grades in Poway. He was impressed with how it held gear going up the grade in CC without any crazy shifting. He was quick to point out how much smoother it shifted felt seamless. He also mentioned the 4Runner felt much liter on its wheels. The Normal throttle felt good for his driving style. It was good meeting you Larry enjoy the Pro-10.0

What are the kinds of price ranges that people are paying for these tunes?

And if you go to a different tire size down the road, would you need to get it retuned?

I think I paid $400 for the first software flash, and then had 9.0 installed earlier this year without cost. However, I tipped him well because of the distance he drove to accomplish the 9.0 update.

I don't have an answer for your question.

Tuning for most of the T4Rs is typically $400-$450, depending on the tuner. 2020-2023 4Runners have a higher licensing fee from VF Tuner, so they are typically $500-$550.

We don’t typically make adjustments to the tune for tire size until you hit 35” or larger.

Dave Durand covers San Diego I believe. He’s the D in KDMax. Give him a shout when you’re ready and he will get you tuned! He’s @TWTaco on here.

Same here, but had 10.0 most recently. I know the 2020+ tunes are more as they affect the transmissions also.

I have a 2016 so at least it seems that might save me a little bit
I would never have looked into these types of things for the mistake of getting falcon, wild peak…. My 4runner immediately felt like a pig. I had no idea they were 7 pounds heavier than a Toyo or stock.

these four runners always felt slow to me, but heavier tires definitely were a buzz kill

I guess an OTT tune could be beneficial if your daily drive was on a Dyno, that way you would have slide of hand data to brainwash you into believing your driving experience was the best.

If the kdmax tune lost that much power(compared to stock). You'd feel it. Especially in the low rpms.

These tunes really help on hills, I mean really helps. They give more power in low rpms(cruising rpms) I still have a little gear hunting though. Now if I see the hill coming i drop it into s4 until I get over the hill.

Yep, definitely worth it! With KDMAX PRO 10.0 in my '23 ORP .We Did a loaded run from Chelsea, Al to Pittsburg, PA, via the Appalachia String back in July. The shift selection was on point, my economy was right there where yours is at. The throttle in Pittsburg traffic was a bonus to say the least. IMO, 10.0 is a vast improvement over 9.0 in regards to linear harmony and holding shift points under load for the 4Runners. If you've been considering it, just do it. You can thank me later.
